More electrical pick-up is always better. So long as your wires are flexible enough!
Not too much interested in metal vehicles, though I do own a number of them. I don't see any advantage over the resin printed models.

Go modular? This is all Z-Bend track standard. Minimum 14" radius curves, I think? Fills up my former dining and living rooms. It's a blast....
