Hi all, Here is what I have been doing whilst Recuperating from my illness. Spent many hours just sitting at a table making this lot. Now "Thank God" I can now get on with making the railroad again as I feel alot better now. Paul
Beautiful stuff there Paul. I have seen most of them before but like the way you posted them together this time.
I really like the appearance of that little yellow critter! Any chance for a couple of close in views? Some background on it? Boxcab E50
Paul, As you know me, I'm interested in the "sidewinder" with over all cab! What did you use to make him from an all? I'm interested to know, nice little 2 cynlinder Shay! Keep up the GREAT work!
Paul, my friend, you really know how to make a comeback to Trainboard!!! Those are prime examples of modeling! I am glad that you have recouperated and look forward to a new layout! Happy railroading! Russ
Thanks kind people, For the "Sidewinder" cab I used 1/8" by 1/16" for the main uprights, and plain 1/4" by 1/16" stripwood for the rest of it. The roof is a piece of Brass sheet I covered with wood. I used the Brass to add a little more weight to the shay. Thanks for asking. Paul
Paul, Nice work! I am also wondering what you used as the Shays frame. the gearing an all.... Is that a MDC kit frame with On30 gauge wheels? Very interesting! Can't wait for more of all this!
Hi John, Sorry to say this but the shay is an Bachmann 0n30 with all it top cut away. I re-did all the pipework back inside once I had the thing stripped down. The rest of the body was as I stated above. Cheers friend. Paul
All I can say is, anything you post Paul is gonna get my attention immediately... you are a GOD in railroad building IMHO, and I am staggered by the quality of your stuff. Pity I cant spend a few hours (years?) picking your brain to try and at least acquire the concepts, if none of the skill, of your techniques.
Very NICE Paul! As you see I'm not to familar with On30.... But that Shay none-the-less is outstanding. Now to get my 3 truck MDC "kitbash" to a 4 truck Shay completed! I'm going to Combine 2 tenders to make a 4 truck... This should be interesting! But, be one of a kind from MDC parts!
Hey Paul, just as an aside... I think it would be a great addition to your layout web sites if you had the track plan with 'clickable' areas on it that took you to a photo or set of photos of that section.... I think it would give a very good idea of how it all fitted together. The workmanship, as always, is outstanding. I shudder to think how much great work you have 'retired' over the years to make way for new stuff....
I think its safe to say that Mr. Templar has forgotten more then some or most of us will ever know! Special in the ways of scenery, an building contruction. The work I've seen from him is outstanding.. And even I as good a modeler as I am with loco's an rolling stock, he outshines me in realism....
Alan, I believe most of us will agree o what I said, Paul is an amazing modeler none-the-less.... My question is, in the picture, your on the right in the picture an Paul is on the left?????
Yes, that's me on the right. The master has his arm around my shoulders to guide me in the right direction
Alan, And I'm sure he lead you in the right dirrection! Lucky man you are! I would not mind meeting Mr. Templar myself! Some experience that would be! Quite a few members in TrainBoard I wouldn't mind meeting an some meeting again!
Still hoping to see more pictures and info on that little yellow critter in the above posted photos! Boxcab E50
You guys are way to kind, but I thanks you all. Unfortunately I have to quit working on the railroad for a few weeks so I hope to be back at a later date. Take care all Paul
