Obviously, the N forum is more active then the HO. That's not an official thing. We just need more HO folks to make things happen. :)

Those are good thoughts and everything you said I agree with. I know a lot of folks will miss the Atlas forums. We hope anyone that is new here as a result of the Atlas closure will find themselves at home, albeit a new one.

...it's done, it's gone. the Atlas forum is officially history, all the threads are now locked. It was a 15 year run for me, seems rather weird to think its all finished forever...

    cheers,

As someone was saying, "It's kind of like high school graduation, everyone is going off in different directions and will never all be together at the same place again."

Create activity. Start topics. Persist. It will grow. Action in HO has been picking up, albeit slowly, all through this winter. Keep the ball rolling.

Yes, forums don't come prepopulated with a set of prolific characters it takes normal people posting.

    Thanks Charlie!

Yep, I watched a movie and when I got back at 12:20, every thing was locked. Bye bye after 18 years!.

Just came back from my last look at the Atlas Forum. Someone has started an "Atlas Rescue" forum based on the Atlas model. Attempted to join but kept on getting the message that my user name was incorrect???

Anyhow, except for the (dare I say it) rivet counters and scale rule Richards, some of whom were almost kamikaze-like in their assaults on specific manufacturers as well as models - it was a good, informative forum.

We don't seem to get that here. I've seen equisitely detailed brass models of steam engines with (I believe) every steam engine appliance cast in beautiful lost wax castings and the thought occurred to me "wonder how long that specific appliance (type or manufacturer) hung on that or even the whole class of engine?" "Til the next 30 day check-up? Until it went to a different shop whose foreman had his own idea of who made that type appliance best?

Nope, we don't seem to get that type reaction to anything and hope we can keep it that way.

Wasn't any problem for me to join Atlas rescue - so far just a role call but hopefully it will get some interesting discussion

As for rivit counters and scale rule, I don't mind being informed of product information. After all, what good is a product review where ignorance is bliss. Sure, it's annoying if you just spent money on something and find out it's got some flaw but I do like to be informed.

I like meaty discussion and that seems to be absent from alot of forums

I gotta say atlas was my first forum possibly a decade ago. Sad to see it go.

On a positive note; have you noticed that the ho scale section here has started to really hop this week? this could be a bright new future for Ho scale on train board.

I'm still here! I used the same screen name here as I did on the Atlas board for the last 7 or 8 years. I will post more of my stuff here as I go along.

I've always liked this forum; I've just never had a lot of things to say! Some of you might remember that I've built things in a lot of different scale/gauges. I'm slowly but surely narrowing my focus, and it's about time!

That's right. This web site is not geared toward any scale. The Z Scale forum was a wasteland for a long time. Then, a few years ago, kaboom! We need HO people to make the same thing happen.

oooh....am I too late to join the party?

I used to post alot to the Atlas forum in SPF when I custom painted full time, but that died off over the last few years due to lack of time.

I've always lurked here in the shadows...

    Enjoy!

It's always good to see activity.

The Rio Grande section here has been dead for the past few months, although it used to be more active, even if mostly N-scalers!

Well, count me as another 'orphaned' from the Atlas Forum. Actually I didn't posted a lot there but I used to browse it daily, and I will miss that.
