B & O Waon Top Caboose Decals in N Scale Hello out there! Anyone have a source for N scale B & O wagon top cabeese decals? The post I am replying to is from March 2007. What's new? Thank you.
Email Tony, if he doesn't respond, PM me and I"ll tell him. He's a friend of mine & we talk quite often. Resp, JB
Hey, I'm new here, but I'm looking for any and all info on B&O wagontop cabooses. I model HO scale. Do any of you know if any companies make wagontop cabooses? Nice models everyone! What colors did you use on the red and green ones? -William
For an HO I-12 you need to search for Pacific Mountain Scale Shops kits. They made an I-12 Wagontop resin kit. They also offer I-1's, I-5's and I-17's available through the B&O Historical Society company store. As far as I know, the I-12's are no longer available so you will have to hunt E-bay and trainshows to find them. A picture/article about a PMSS I-12 - http://www.customrrmodels.com/freight_car_files/bo2453.htm The B&O Store models web page - http://www.borhs.org/Shopping/Models.html The colors on the cabooses are Testors Model Master Insignia Red over top of Gray primer on the darker one, and white primer on the lighter caboose. The green is an aircraft color, Model Master Interior Green. Those were the best thing I could come up with. Floquil caboose red is too bright and orangey for me.
Thanks, I'll look around. I saw them years ago on the BORHS, but then they disappeared. What style trucks do I need to use?
Trucks.....? I'm not sure. I didn't research them to0 deep as we don't have a lot of options in N scale. For N it really comes down to if you need to tweak the wheel base or not. Micro Trains trucks have an offset bolster pin hole allowing you to shorten or lengthen wheel base if needed where Atlas trucks have the bolster pin hole in the middle. Between the two trucks you can have 3 different wheelbases to get it as close to accurate as you need.
I have never been able to find any of these. Does anyone know if anyone still has any available, or where I can buy some of these kits?
I'd suggest trying JNJ Trains JnJ Trains They're the manufacturer and should be able to tell you if there are any in stock or what retailer might have some or when another run might be scheduled. I got my wagontops directly from JNJ. Jim
Hi Tony I have an ALPS printer and I use CorelDraw 9. Would it be possible to get a copy of the decal file? I am making the JnJ models and I also make my own RPS digital models in Z through Shapeways, here is my shop page http://www.shapeways.com/mymodels If I get the file I can scale it to Z. The model you see on my models needs some changes which I am now in the process of doing. The original design was made before Shapeways introduced some finer materials and I have found some dimensions I had wrong. My B&O wagontop boxcar has been a popular item and has sold the most so far. Thanks,Allan
