The Bedford, PA N Scale Weekend will be held this coming weekend, August 22 & 23, 2015. Those are the days for the public. Layout set up is Friday Aug 21st. This is a fun event for participants as well as spectators. Unlike the typical train show where the emphasis is on the commercial selling, here the emphasis is on people just running trains. Expect 10-12 layouts of varying sizes most but not all, will be Ntrak. Some venders will be there also. So if you are in the area stop in. The event is at the Pro-Care complex on US Rte 30 on the small hill next to the Walmart. Look for the blue roof. It is easy to get to being located between the Bedford and Breezewood exits on the PA Turnpike.
I won't be there this year - family event conflict - but kits are still being made. Actually I had such a good season I have virtually nothing left to sell until I restart molding in October. My good friend Rick Peltz has my 'spot' this year, say hello and look at his stuff - he's got a lot of it!
Ah nuts, I missed last year and made a point to schedule for this weekend this year. Was hoping to talk to you about B Climaxes. Ah well, once we get moved out and into the new place I'll drop you an email. I'll be sure to stop by Mr. Peltz's table though. Sent from the magical mystery box
One could have put a serious dent in the wallet. Here are a couple of pictures more. DSCN3201 by Sepp K posted Aug 23, 2015 at 9:21 PM DSCN3200 by Sepp K posted Aug 23, 2015 at 9:21 PM DSCN3207 by Sepp K posted Aug 23, 2015 at 9:21 PM
No date that I know of but usually it is the weekend before the Labor day weekend. This year it was moved up because of the Nationals. Mike did ask me if I thought it should remain two weekends before Labor Day or go back to the prior scheduling. I told him that with most schools now starting a week before Labor Day moving it up a week would probably be best. Mike is also looking into a new venue. The Pro Care complex where it is now held has had issues with the A/C for years. Trouble is that Bedford is a small town and there isn't much available. He is looking into using an A/C equipped high school gymnasium in either Bedford or Everett, PA for the layouts with venders in the halls. So moving the date up a week would fit in better with using the school facilities. We shall see.
Vendors in the halls could be a bit of a challenge. It can be done but there is the risk of crowding... i.e. simulating the time between classes at the school!
Yep, that's me in the lower left of the photo. There was a very good module of a coal mine in the Capital PenNscalers layout. You could tell the guy who built it spent some time working in the mines as he included stuff you don't see in typical mine modules like the exhaust portal, lorry cars, etc.
While it was relatively cool outside, the venue was very warm and sticky. Air movement was very limited to just a few feet inside the doors that were open.
It was not as bad on the second day. I found it much more tolerable temp-wise on Sunday. I suppose we all have different levels of tolerance though. It was a great show for me and I had a very nice time. Looking forward to next year.
