    Time out, folks...............

I'm glad you and Doug are loyal to Chuck- heck, for me in Sherman I'd rather drive over to Denton that deal with the Metrosprawl (traffic, toll roads, and no, I'm not around long enough to get Tolltags). As much as I like Discount, I also like Chuck- he's been friendly every time I've been in. I'm sure the DAM Club (the Denton Area Modelers) also feel the same way about having someone close.

That having been said, keep in mind that NSL was going in info he recieved from Chuck's wife at the time. Now, perhaps, he heard it wrong, or perhaps Chuck my have had a change of heart & decided to keep slugging it out, but that is where he got his info from. Not a reason to jump down some poor guy'd throat, or even attack someone else who was trying to calm things down. Both Russ and Mike (a/k/a NSL) are decent fellows, and friends of mine, and I could be just as easily provoked to go after the two of you for your remarks. However, I'm taking the high road here, since short tempers and angry remarks help no one.

Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) is trying to run Chuck out of business. I'm so very glad folks in our part of North Texas and you folks in the Metrosprawl have an option to Discount Model Trains, and will continue to support both shops, and perhaps Silver Spike a little more when I get home.

So what say we all grab a cold glass of ice tea, get out of the shade, and set a spell. The weather's lousy enough as it is without more short tempers. No major harm was done, nothing was committed in malice, no blood, no foul. If you want Silver Spike to stay open, patronize the plce more, and get your friends to make the run to Denton.

Let's argue about something else, like, say, Atlas vs. Kato, or another non-controversial thread..... ;)

    Now HERE's a thought.......

BTW fellas, what say you get a message from Chuck about Silver Spike & post it here, or better yet have him jin TB and he can tell us about the shop. We DFW and North Texas modelers know about the place, but it wouldn't hurt to tell others, esp. those from out of the area. Shoot, every place I've been at on assignment on my job I've searched out railfan locations and hobby shops, and have batted 1.000 in my efforts, mostly because I've asked about locations of both on Trainboard.

Russ- ya up to giving us a report on Silver Spike as well? Assuming we can tear you away from the N scale goodies, that is.....

I just checked into the Straw Hotel in Carrollton. My brother and his family are still somewhere in Europe so I have the place to myself while I visit with my Mom, who lives near by. I will hop on 35E in the morning and head up to check it out and report back. ;)

Sounds good. And oh yes, best wishes to your mother from all of us at Trainboard.

    Bob,

Good idea. I'll take the high road, and agree to disagree, and all that other "stuff", too. I've said my peace.

And I've said mine. I've read your PM, and have responded in kind. I have no personal beef with you, but truthfully, take up the subject with the person you're angry with- he has a PM as well.

    Later.........

My apologies, I mistakenly thought you were the moderator of this forum from the "Time Out, Folks" title in your message. I will send my concerns to the appropriate parties.

I already communicated my message to N_S_L via this thread. I am not angry with anyone, just trying to correct a (repeated) mistake.

It seems that sometimes we are slow to admonish the membership about friendly and accurate posting. None of this would have come up if a kinder post had been made as if a question, rather than a statement of fact.
It may turn out to be that when a call was made the wife may have mentioned that they were closing (for the day or week end) so could not help the caller, and the caller may have assumed the shop was closing down out of business.
That may explain how the statement of fact came about.
It does not appear that any out right lie was intended, nor was any intent to damage a business.
I started to reply, but several replies were already posted by the time I thought it over and went back.
It really is a statement that should not be made publicly unless one has all the facts.

"A wise man can not make a worth while decision, unless he has all the facts!"

It is over now, lets all return to our layouts and have fun. It should end here. :D

I stopped in at the Silver Spike in Denton this morning. A small shop but still a good selection of quality merchandise at competative prices in both N and HO. If my daughter goes to grad school at TWU I will probably have to stop in whenever I visit.:teeth:

His Wife said it ... how much more verification should I have? I think she would know what's going on. Have YOU talked to him and asked if he temporarily thought closing the store but later changed his mind???!!!

It was not a "mistake" !!

In my second post I DID say where I got the info.... hardly "BLIND" information or "a rumor"

HIS WIFE SAID IT!!!! Are YOU implying she doesn't know what her husband's business is doing??? Or are you now going to conclude that SHE is the conspiritor and out to ruin the buisness?

    Folks,

Let's just calm down. There's obviously some misunderstandings here. I think they've been thrashed out quite thoroughly. As far as I can see, no one's business has been harmed. This isn't going to make Google headlines or even their search engine. Let's be realistic: tempers can flare. That's normal, and happens all the time. But this argument is about nothing important, so let it go gracefully into the night.

Russ- Glad to hear he's still in business, and that you've found a possible new place to shop.

Doug- as a moderator, yes,I jumped in to separate the parties and cooled things down. And if needed, I'll do it again. If that bothers you, that's your problem. Next time, lay off the flaming statements, or at least check things out.

    Pete,

Rumor has it that I heard myself say "OK" to your proposal of cooling down.

I'll check with Google to confirm

Ok, I'm locking this. Information on hobby stores in the area has been covered quite well. I'm sorry that members are getting into arguments that have nothing to do with the original request. These arguments do nothing to further the coverage of hobby stores in the area.
