In a part of the Livingston MRR club area they have a very nicely built up Lionel layout, and yes, Thomas is chasing down the North Coast Limited!

Seems as though Thomas had a dislike for that one switch.

It's really kind of funny. Two guys from Lionel were at a convention in the early 90's, toured my layout, saw my Loewy schemed F units, in three rail (2343's), took loads of pictures..and a year or two later (maybe longer) came out with those FA's hauling the NCL.
You have any idea how many FA units the NP had on roster..ever?

Precisely. The question always seems to be, how much more does it cost to do it right than to do it wrong?
I mean, they HAD the F-5 tooling already. (we always called the Lionel early F units F-5...as they were half F-3 chicken screen, half F-7 louvers). To make the paint masks for an FA when they could have done an F-3 makes one wonder.

There has been a discussion elsewhere of the new Korea Brass HO NP U25C release. Apparently they used a dark green instead of black. Everyone is scratching heads about that costly error and how the heck it could have happened.
