Gerd - Thanks! You are a big part of it1 Jeff - MC Fujiwara is a big inspiration to me. He is amazing! John
Wow! It's been 11 months since I posted here about my layout, time flies! Lots has been added to the layout and the layout has moved to boot. We moved to Fairport, NY (where I started in Z back in 1999) and bought a house there on June 27th. My train room is twice the size as the one I had in Woodbridge, VA but there is a lot we are doing to set up our new house so the trains and train room are the last priority. Maybe a few more months and I'll get back to it. Just wanted to let you know I am still alive and moving down the rails. John
Hey, my friend, I was wondering the other day what are you up to. Looks like the corporate life has a grip on you. Looking forward to get some updates from you!
So after closing on our house on June 27th 2014 my job was eliminated due to a reorganization on July 14th 2014 and I was out of work. What a kick in the head. Since then I have not had much desire to work on my layout, finding a job took top priority. I finally landed a new job on January 5th 2015 and just tonight I started to get my train room organized – there is still a lot to do. It’s been frustrating not being able to work on it but job hunting took all of my time. Hopefully by June I will be back at the layout and giving y'all some great updates. John
John I am glad the job hunt went well. We need to get you back in that train room! I have missed seeing updates on the layout. Rob
Glad to see ya' back on your feet!! Life has it's up's and down's, just gotta stay positive, and keep on modeling!!
And I am sorry that you are no longer in Virginia, darnit. Hope the new job works well for you, and you can get back to a somewhat normal existence again.
As Arnold said "I'm back!" Prior to moving from Woodbridge, VA to Fairport, NY I completed the Calvary Cemetery portion of my layout. Calvary Cemetery is one of those places that I remember from my youth and is right near the area I am modeling Newtown Creek and Dutch Kills. http://forgotten-ny.com/2011/12/calvary-cemetery/ I tried to do Calvary Cemetery justice as much as I could in such a small part of my layout. I'll post some more info on where I came up with the items in the cemetery to include the inedible Osage Orange lying on the ground. Enjoy! John
John it is great seeing new updates! I have missed them!! The cemetery looks great!! Z scale osage oranges? Really? Keep those updates coming! Rob
Rob, Thanks! Yup Osage Oranges, nasty inedible things that fall from the trees throughout the cemetery. http://newtownpentacle.com/2009/11/25/things-you-learn-from-being-a-ghoul/ John
Awesome!! Did you John submit your layout to Model Railroader? They couldn't do any Z-scale bashing anymore with it... Dom
