Hello all! Hope everyone is well! I model HO scale, but lately, my father has brought out his old American Flyer S scale stuff when he was a kid. He(after getting bit by the bug again) has gone on a buying spree of all stuff S scale. He has bought a couple NS Heritage Unit(6 actually) and a bunch of MTH 2 bay covered hoppers. He went to replace the couplers with "scale kadee compatible" couplers. As he removes the trucks, he has noticed that where the screw goes into the posts, most are cracked and slightly mushroomed. He has been able to glue the posts back together, and file/sand down the post so it is the correct height(seems the posts were too tall and when the trucks were put on, the maker just torqued the screws down all the way). Here is my question... does anyone here who also has MTH S scale cars have this same issue? Just trying to get him more info on whether this is just the covered hoppers... or, if this is an issue with most/all of the MTH cars. Thanks for any replies! JMS
