I love the 33-ft tank trailer, but the prices almost boggle the mind.

As with most things in N scale now...those with deep pockets wont even flinch. The question though is...how many "Duel" tankers will one modeler need on their layout ? For that matter...how many of any of them ? Granted...multiples can be repainted for everyday use....but still? Mutiple outrageouly priced passenger cars...freight cars...locomotives maybe. Sometimes ya gotta wonder what manufactures are thinking and how they come to the price decisions they do.

Oh well...just another wish list item that will gather dust.

Guys, step off the window ledge please.

Understand....these are specialty items, that likely required licensing to even get started. I have to think that the prices shown are not gonna be what you'll see for any ensuing standard release. Trainworx has certainly not shown that their pricing is out of touch with the rest of the industry, by any stretch.

I *really* want that Smoky and the Bandit truck though!!! lol And of course Optimus Prime is a must have.

Its ok...really. With manufactures dead set on useing the 'preorder' system...if they only make 10...they can always claim they wont be making anymore "...because nobody wants them." They would be wrong...but they have the blinders on and just can't see the real world !!!

    I'm done with my rant...thank you. ;)

I agree with the sentiments stated regarding the pricing. These specialty, "one of a kind" items feed the collector market but do little to advance N scale as a whole. Why not commit to making a few basic models of a Mack or Peterbilt or any other truck bed which then could be used to make a dump truck, concrete mixer, tractor, tow truck, flatbed, or anything else that these frames are used in the real world. I thought that was what Athearn was going to do with their line up of Mack trucks but they are nowhere to be found anymore. Expanding the market lowers the price and increases sales. Seems to me that basic marketing strategy no longer exists among the manufacturers. That hurts the hobby and will ultimately hurt the manufacturers.

I couldn't have said it better. It's gonna be a tough call between Snowman's rig and the one from Duel. Guess I'll have to look at era's on the layout and let it decide. Maybe a quick search of N scale resin and Shapeways to see if there's a '77 TransAm. That would help me decide. Then I would have to find a '77 Lemans 4 door too. Can't forget Sheriff Buford T. Justice now can we? See how these things snowball?

I think these are great. I hope they sell well. It looks like they are better detailed than many of out N Scale Semis. Hopefully some will be released with some generic paint schemes after this run sells out.

Wow, hopefully this is just the beginning of Trainworx producing tractor and trailers. Hopefully, I can get my hands on a couple of the Optiums Prime ones for myself and my son.......

They came out a few months ago. You may want to check with your dealer.

I'll be ordering the Smokey and the Bandit and the Duel trucks. Expensive? Yes, but this is an expensive hobby. Those are front of the layout models, little details that visitors see and go "Oh, cool!" Plus, I'm a fan of those movies. And when they decide to release those 53' trailers seperately, (they're not going to let that tooling collect dust) I'm in for a few dozen. I have rows of BLMA spine cars waiting for loads.

Just browsing their web site, and many if not most of the trailers listed are marked 'sold out'. I'd expect this run will do the same.

I'm afraid you missed them. They came and went in a hurry. I think most dealers are sold out.

I had them on pre-order (Wig Wag) but I have not gotten any notification about them. I figured they were just delayed. I guess I better call them. Thanks

Let's not forget that TW is not Atlas, Kato, IM, or Athearn. Pat is doing everything on his own (with help from his family). He has no marketing department, sales department, etc.... He is NOT getting rich from this, but he IS doing this hobby a favor. Small manufacturers like him cannot afford to have stock sit around and gather dust. I am sure he will run the "generics" of these truck to make use of the dies. I will purchase one of each (and no I don't have deep pockets). I am not discounting that others cannot afford them or they do not "fit" their layout, and that is OK.
I will admit that I am biased because Pat and his family are friends and I do purchase a lot of his products.
    Have a wonderful day.

My trucks arrived today, and I thought some comparison photos with some of the older models might prove interesting.

Below is a Detail Associates Kenworth with the Trainworx Peterbilt 281/351.

Next is the Con-Cor "Kenworth" with the Trainworx Kenworth W900.

Here is the Con-Cor "Freightliner" with the Trainworx Kenworth K100
    [IMG]

And finally we have the Con-Cor "Kenworth" with the Trainworx Peterbilt 379
    [IMG]

Pat tooled another grille/headlights for the Peterbilt 379 so additional releases can have a "stock" appearance.
