My photo taking on Friday was limited, as I started to not feel well after lunch (and actually left early). Steve Williams caught this of me.

What a gathering! I wonder when the next opportunity will be to repeat it... maybe Salt Lake City?

No, and we are not really sure exactly what happened. That area was being worked on during Thursday setup, and seemed fine. We ballasted late on Thursday, and Friday morning, it was like a divot was taken out of the ballast and one rail, about a 3/16" drop right after it crossed a sectional boundary, but just the inner rail. The working hypothesis is something got pressed into the rail while the work was occurring, and simply not noticed in the mad rush to finish.

Hi Rick, we had some travel casualties too, but the guys at N-land Pacific were able to clean make repairs.

Sure wish I could be there. The guys took a couple of my modules up there and unfortunately were two of the casualties. Piru and El Gato are small but I hope you enjoy running through them.

I do appreciate the photo posting.

Wish you were here, too, so we could have finally met in person.

Yeah, while we all had normal transit damage, the N Land guys won the prize with pancaking modules on the trailer. The repairs were done so quickly, I never actually saw the raw damage. ( the supports failed, allowing three modules to crash down on each other, bashing through track and foam)

We thought we would bring a little more light into hall today. At one point, we had three Daylights in a row.

The layout was impressive as were other layouts. The train show vendors were a disappointment. Not as many as usual. People said the Narrow Gauge Convention caused vendors to have to make a choice. I have a feeling Portland lost on that one.

I have no idea the difference in booth space cost between the two shows. I know some vendors said the National Train show booth space was quite expensive.

It will be interesting to see how many vendors are in Houston this week.

I heard the same from a couple of the vendors. Plus, I did notice quite a few less spots than on the initial floor plan.

Yep. Me thinks it was the hot dogs I had for lunch that day. And, the day off, seeing the Columbia River Gorge helped, too
