Anyone have any of Roco's HOe passenger cars? How do you like them?

I've given thought to using these on my HOn30 layout instead of more Western looking cars, with the reasoning that a line in the Caribbean would be buying power from all over.

Any other HOe cars worth looking at?

An interesting question. Hope you can get an answer. Also, you have me wondering how hard it might be to "Americanize" any of these.

Well, with out the normal roofs you find on American equipment, hard to say. I would go with easy if your modeling a free lance line. Just a coupler swap if your so inclined and maybe a repaint or something of that nature. Even patching might be an option. But the design in whole would be hard to convert.

I think the HOn30 archives have something from Bob Hayden on converting Roundhouse/MDC HOn3 cars to HOn30, but cutting. I would just go with a basic design and a rounded roof myself. May go that way anyhow. Couple of railroads had cars like that..

The plantation cars were built a few years ago on flatcars from the WP&Y. I think there are drawings in NG&SLG.

Still, I do like the look of those Roco cars, along with some of the other cars from other European makers. And if someone would make a model of the Krupp 2-8-2 engines the ICRA had... Wow. Read here about them....http://ngdiscussion.net/phorum/read.php?1,101972

What ever happened to that operation? Did it ever get going again? I vaguely recall reading about this at the time, but no mention in recent years which I can recall.

Which one? Posner's railway is in limbo still. The plantation railroad is running fine from what I hear.

Posner's operation. If that many years have gone by, it is probably all done.

What about Arumodel equipment? http://homepage3.nifty.com/arumo/ar5.htm and/or http://www.arumo.com/ They have an interesting assortment of passenger cars and other equipment. He is about to release three new coaches (seen in the second page) which might come handy. Although most of them are of Japanese prototype their design is almost universal.

I have nothing to do with them other than being a happry customer.

    Cheers Nicholas

Have heard the name "Arumodel" but you are the first to mention owning any items. Are they closer to 009 or HOn30 size?
