    Hi George,

A while back I suggest that the vehicle you are now housing T.H.E.R.R. be call the BUS. I know you are referring to it as the T.H.E.R.R. RV, but it is no longer an RV in the RV sense. It is now the T.H.E.R.R. TrainMobile LOL
    :cute:

All joking aside you are making good progress. Them Kato #6 switches can be a #$%^&. Hang in you will come up with a solution that will be both functional and look good.

LOL..." Recreational Vehicle" can have so many connotations though. I can think of 2 right off the top of my head ;-)

    Got 2 UP5's installed

Temporarily laid some Unitrack....to see what pieces I have and what I still need.

Looks like lots of straight track purchasing in my future :-(

    George-

THE WIFE here got a laugh out of you being kept in til the walls were painted! Funny!

    The backdrop paint looks nice.

As for cieling supports in my trailer, there will be a new one every 8 feet or so, double plated 2x4's on enrd for the truss support, tied to new wall 2x4's at the walls. Hence a large open room.

I may have missed the comment about the #6 Unitrack switches. I'll volunteer my experience with them and then everyone can jump in here and hee haw me off the page. I found I could cut the curved (diverging side) as well as the straight section back to the hidden solenoid. This allowed me to close the gap between the tracks and allowed for more switches in one spot. When finished they didn't look pretty but what the heck the ballast will hide that....right?

Got's to get back to my own mess. Still getting those darn heat kinks. It's not even, hot here but the humidity may be playing with my sub-roadbed. Me thinks! Can't you guys keep the monssonal weather in Arizona?

Wow George, I’m so glad to hear you got it going again. I wish I could see the photos, but I’m not sure if you deleted them or I just can’t see them. It’s been a while since I’ve been on and just seeing the thread now for the 1st time.

Oops, I take that back I see a couple on the last page. Looks good

Hey Rick...these monsoon rains usually start in California...so dont blame me....lmao. The heat aint so bad here when its raining...lol.

I am skipping the sidings for now. I know...probably a mistake I will regret later when I decide to 'cut em in'. I just need to explore all the options with Unitrack when it comes to making the sidings work and look right. T.H.E.R.R. Yard will be ok because I am using all 6's and they will give me at least 6 yard tracks. :)

    Finally got the inclines in.
Just have to do some permenant blocking underneath.

I know they are cookie cutter...but hey...I bought 5-4x8 sheets of plywood for the layout and had em cut em to 32 inches wide. This left me with 5-16in x 96in pieces. "Waste not what not" I've always been told. So I used em. What's left is leaning against the cabinets. I have plans for those too. :)

I also got ONE mainline in and have been able to run some trains finally...woohoooooooo !!

A SF freight climbing the grade !

THE Sexcursion on the siding which will be Jean's Valley Station.

A BNSF coming off the interchange with the main BNSF line 20 miles up north...waiting for clearance to enter the yard.

    Thnxs guys !

It's just been fun running some trains for now...and thinking. I am doing all this pretty much on what I have in my head. No real plans on paper...otrher then the rough sketch of the track. T.H.E. Wife and I have been 'discussing' options and that has been fun. Her being involved really makes it that much better :)

I may just runs some trains for a few more days and relax and rejuvenate. I think the hardest parts are done...the 'remodel' of T.H.E. RV was exhausting and has taken it's toll on the old body. BUT...I am more excited now then when I first saw her and had T.H.E. Vision.

This is gonna be fun :)

Your layout is coming along just fine. You do know? You can put in feeders every 6 to 12 feet. Humm, I'ma having so much fun cutting in new track, switches and spurs. Wishing I had done that the first time around. A bit more difficult to accomplish. I hate remodeling.

From the side door pullman: After thought! If it wasn't for the necessity of heat gaps, due to unscheduled heat kinks, my drops would be on 9 foot centers.

Now to the weather: The wire drops all worked out fine until you Arizona types decided to park a high pressure system over the top of Salt Lake City and draw the heat and moisture out of the Gulf Of Mexico, sending it our way. You do know, how I know, the Monssoon rain storms are from Arizona? It's because of the red dust out of Sedona...grin! Never mind the sand storms between Pheonix and Tucson. Cough, cough, sputter, gag, cough. Tough to inhale these days.

Normally, we like to send you our storms, accompanied by our smog... You know the ones that build up off the Alaskan Aleutians, riding the waves down the coast to California and then cut across Southern California, eastbound. Now's your chance to get even with us. COL

Heat Kinks...grrrrr!! You won't believe what I'ma going through to repair my layout. One plus, a small window airconditoning unit is now in place. It will drop the temperature in the train shed 10 degrees. That helps. I will be ordering up insulation...if the price is right. In the mean time it's demolition time and I'm pulling out sections of my hidden staging yard, two spots on the main, realigning one track in the coal district and chasing the local mouser, off the layout. Sigh!

Keep us posted as to your progress.

    Rick...

U can keep all the nasty weather !! Its even in the 90's up here on the mountain ! Yuck !!!

I feel for ya with heat kinks. I am hoping Unitrack is a bit more robust then flex track or regular sectional track tacked down to trackbed. (fingers crossed).

I'll be thinking about you sweatin to the oldies out in that metal shed while I am out runnin trains in aircondtioned comfort in THE RV...cya...LOL.
