"Schnabel" is a term for the overall design of freight car that splits to hold large loads. Kasgro is one company that owns them.

I have been told by the engineer designing said model that Q1 or early Q2 2010 is a real possibility. Look for it to be near 2 bills with the load, load platform, and support equipment.

CEBX 800 N-scale Kit to be released Soon

OK gang, I have officially gotten permission from the manufacturer of the CEBX 800 N-scale model, Elgin Locomotive Works to release some information.

The car will need 9 pairs of 70 ride control ton trucks, which are currently available from BLMA at ~$5.99 per pair.

The car will be a kit

There are support cars, containers, spare trucks (not included), etc.

There will be etched metal details

There will be laser cut wood details

    And much more

AND……..WAIT FOR IT…..WAIT FOR IT….>Da Da DA: PICTURES:

The following photos are some rapid prototype test shots to help with the molding process.

First, one end of the car (preliminary sample ONLY):

Second, some of the support equipment:

Yupper, Gonna be n-scale. 28 inches isn't the issue so much as curves will require "clearance" issues.

So this kit is designed to ride on the BLMA truck?

At this point, the manufacturer does not have his own truck, so, until he does, the BLMA will stand in just fine.

Mark (Elgin Loco Works) is a little bit of a recluse from what I can tell. No web presence, etc but I communicate with him in person and via e-mail from time to time. Just some background, he of course did the NYC Jet RDC parts, but he has also done a Laser Cut N-scale Barges. He was the designer and engineer for the Deluxe Innovations Armoco Buildings and he is the design brain trust behind the Stacker that was preliminarily shown at Trainfest 2009. I tried to find my picture of the stacker, but I am at the hobby shop right now, and don’t have it with me.

100T... not the 70T. I designed both of those trucks for BLMA, and I can tell you the 100T is much closer to the proto picture than the 70T.

Wow this is pretty awsome! I was looking at the HO ones produced by Concept Models and was hoping someone would take this on in N. Are there any updates, and how will these be available for purchase? I have definitely been hooked by this one!
