Seems I made a mental boo-boo when crediting some of these views. It should be Bob Jordan instead of Bob Jensen. If I'd only bothered to look at what I wrote down instead of relying on memory!

CM&E ALCo is 684. Date appears correct. However, location could be Western Junction, which is actually a fair number of miles south of Tacoma. Under normal conditions, this unit only operated between Western Junction and the woods. Other traffic beyond here would usually have been several FM units.

Ah. I took a guess on the location, as one was not provided.

As for the number error, that is due to me not reading properly.

Those Weyerhaueser units were considered the "Big Motors" on that line! Normally, they used 4-5 SW's for they're log trains. Sure wish this still was running!

Crescent, Colorado. Unmistakable. The best part of this photo is the old school crossing signal. I modeled Crescent in this era, and details like this are important.

Just a bit of quick info- For the South Shore #802 and her sisters, as I was once told by a person back there, they actually just called them "Eight Hundreds" (800's).

Happily, ACL E3 501 survives at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, SC. :)

Nice video, but that horn seems to be needing some TLC!

Is this the same E unit which was on a Wisconsin short line, (ex-MILW tracks), way back in the 1980's or so?

Yeah, it spent a few years on the Wisconsin Western Railroad back then.

Wasn't it Glen Monhart and his WICT? (Wisconsin & Calumet RR.) After the Wisconsin Western failed, he took over and brought in some early/first generation units of an almost historical nature. WW operated mostly or all with ex-MILW FM units.

I believe the 501 was off the property before the Wisconsin & Calumet took control in 1985. There are plenty photos of it on line in Wisconsin from 1983 and 1984.
