This looks sweet.. Glad I got my order in. When is the projected delivery date? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Not on the Olympian. The parlors were Rapids series carvused on the Twin Cities trains. The Olympian used Creek series cars which were sleepers. Jason
The Kato rep mentioned September in the video linked to this thread: http://www.trainboard.com/highball/...day-june-9th-at-10am-est.106662/#post-1017793
Prototype photos and other manufacturers' models all seem to show silver side grilles. How did Kato miss this and will they correct it in a future production run? Either that or it's time to break out the silver paint marker. Intermountain models for comparison:
I'm not familiar with Milwaukee Road prototype practices, but some roads did paint the stainless grills to match the roofs. Northern Pacific is one that I am aware of for certain. The Loewy scheme. They painted the grills to match the dark green, however the paint didn't stick that well so there are many photos that show varying degrees of silver peaking through. When Kato does finally get around to the NCL, they need to do just as they did with these CMStP&P units. This is actually encouraging for me.
Prior to the Loewy scheme, NP F7 locos had silver side grilles: The Loewy scheme units did have the grilles painted green: It would remain to be seen how Kato might reproduce the lettering on the B-unit grilles.
All of the GN FP-7 pictures on the web appear to show the grills painted, as does the above post. It looks like Kato got it right and Intermountain got it wrong,
