Just noticed that one of the photos went bye-bye. I think it's cause I deleted the old one and reuploaded a rescanned on Flickr, so here it is again (plus the two latest).

A B&O freight, with GP40-2 4246 in charge, rolling past WM F7 231 waiting to go. New Castle, PA, May 2, 1976 (H. W. Ameling) (Probably one of my favorites of all the shots I bought.)

Yup. The new file likely did not carry that same name as the old one, which broke the (URL) address.

That would do it! And now that I think about it the new file doesn't have the same name.

Those early CR mixed units paints looked awful.

My grandfather's '53 Chevy had a better paint job--and he used a brush.

And how sweet is that masking between the side panels and the roof? I know during the transition from Penn Central to Conrail money was tight, but who even buys paint when they can't afford masking tape?

A pair of Santa Fe views. (Hope you all like the AT&SF, the next 15 or so posts are gonna be solid Santa Fe.)

Also, I believe that the shop photo in the previous post is Cleburne, judging by the presence of CF7s and unrebuilt F7s.

What is that behind the caboose? A crane of some sort?

Nice! I certainly don't object to AT&SF - when I was a kid, my Dad used to add rolling stock that was mostly Santa Fe. He was a big Santa Fe fan. I have old slides of engines and cars he painted and detailed in Santa Fe colors. I enjoyed the fruit of his work at the time, but now I know what he felt when he was doing it - pure satisfaction and piles of relaxing fun. :)

    Keep it up, Wil!

I would believe a passenger train.

The presence of the blue & yellow B-Unit would lead me to believe that it isn't passenger (although I know such things would creep in on occasion), but possibly freight. I know the Santa Fe had dual service F-Units painted in the passenger colors. I don't recall the number series on them, but I want to say they were numbered in the 300s. So it could be either type of train, the slide made no note of it.

A pair of F-Units (these two will be the last for a little as I'm currently going through the photos I shot during the CZ trip).
