I don't see an icon to click to edit it once a post has been publicized. Or, is there one I'm not seeing ? M

I believe that you can only edit a post for a short time after entering it. Don't know if it is time based or event based (seen by others, replied, etc.).

When you can, it is in the line at lower left of post with your id and time entered.

I think after an hour, that feature disappears.

Any way to change that (time based)?. I posted last night and went to edit this morning and couldn't. Most of the other forums I belong to have editing as long as the thread is active (with time of edit published in post).

    Thank you!

We changed our editing, (time allowance), many years back. This was due to several duds, who went back and deliberately destroyed every single post they had made, and in the process mutilated topics. The actions of supposed adults, who were in reality no more than petulant children, making a mess for the rest of us.

An easy way to get staff attention to edit a post you no longer can is to hit the “report” selection in the post; then in the details, say what you want to edit and why. Someone on staff will get to it reasonably quickly from there.

Good to know that. I'd been wondering the same thing.

I know this is an old thread, but ...

In some of my old posts, I included links to other threads on right here on TrainBoard. However, due to changes in the forum software, those old links no longer work. It sure would be nice to edit these old posts so that the links work!

    Example:
    https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/servos-for-turnout-control.80774/#post-911788

The link in this post no longer works. There must be hundreds of other internal links that are broken.

Can we do anything about this? Should we just report them and ask staff to fix them?

    Thanks --Jeff

This problem, during the software conversion, also hit most links to RailImages within posts. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to fix these. Each post would need to be edited, and the new link must be known ahead of time.
