I finally managed to do another video... this one is a product demo of the Digitrax LNWI. I'm doing a clinic on it for my local NMRA Division, and seriously considering adding one to Frost River even though I already have JMRI's WiThrottle server running.

Oh, and here's an update on Standlee Hay... I've built a foundation for it.

It needs some work, though. I'll probably have to rebuild it (the foundation) from scratch. It's a good proof of concept, though. Progress!

How about another video? This one demos the LocoNet based Arduino-powered infrared detector board I built for my staging yard...

not for nothing, but that track print and the sensor would make a neat small kit to sell ... and it looks like an wheel flange oiler on the prototype.

I'm considering it. If I were to do so, there are some things yet to work out... manufacturability, and service/repairability, to name a few. I have one sensor that appears to be dead already (out of 3 tested!), and figuring out how to remove/replace it without tearing up the layout may be tricky. I have some ideas on how to improve on that, but they aren't ready for prime-time.

OK, it' been a while (six months!) ... but I have a video update for you. This past Saturday I held an open house for the local NMRA Division and some other guests. This is a video version of the "tour" that I gave, basically...

    He's good, isn't he!

The lift bridge is about to be re-engineered. The hinges work flawlessly, but I've had some issues with warping and alignment on the other end. A friend of mine who is into mechanical design and shop work is going to help me (well... really, do it for me) rebuild the bridge itself and the far-end abutment in metal so that it will hold alignment better.

*****What traffic will the Dixie Cup plant have? Specifically what railcar types? Looks like a great industry

Dixie Cup takes in paper in boxcars (indoor unloading) and wax in tank cars (unloading fixtures outside the building).
