Well we did it again, hard to believe huh?

I'm off today to head on down to the Saint Louis RPM meet and run my B&M modules. I didn't get anywhere near where I wanted as far as presentation. In fact I'm a tad embarrassed. After showing the City Job so long, these modules feel naked.

Saturday: Day two of the RPM meet. I plan to walk around a bit as well as run trains on the new modules. It should be a good time and despite my modeling efforts, I should enjoy myself.

Sunday: I'm back from the meet and have promised Angela some quality time. Too much time at the bench and not enough Angela time can be bad!

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 23rd to see how we all did. Until then, have fun, stay safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Finally, I can get back to work now that my hip replacement is behind me. This project has been easier than expected once I got more precise with laying out the curves and turnouts, and remembering what I was taught about soldering 50 years ago. My plan is for the cars to be powered from the trolley wire. Thus the reason for the hunk of wire stuck into the trolley pole socket on the car and clipped to the power supply.

One thing I've learned is that track with 6-1/8" radius curves has to be perfect, or else the car will wander off across the landscape.

Oh, the squiggle between the two turnouts at the bottom of the picture, that's where I learned about being precise with track laying.

Got confirmation last week that both the Ntrak club I belong to and the N scale Asian layout I belong to have been invited to have layouts at a local show in September. The Ntrak module I will take is ready to go but my efforts will now switch from working on the home layout to finishing some track and scenery projects on some of the Asian layout's modules.

I've pretty much not done a thing modeling wise since before last year's Trainfest. Kids, my bands, and other stuff have just gotten in the way.

I've been commissioned to do two Amtrak cabbage units, and started those three weeks ago. Last week, I managed to rupture my right achilles tendon, and tear my right calf muscle, basically keeping me couch surfing for the next three months (had surgery this past Tuesday). Suddenly all these modeling projects that have been sitting for so long look like they might be good therapy for the grey matter between the ears, and my own sanity.

I wanted to join my pal Jim at the RPM today with the Galesburg City Job layout, but as I feared, I'm just too poor. It would have been a "bridge too far" for me this year, and I just didn't want to go through that again. Ah well, the rent is paid. So I'll just stay home and work on the Wisconsin Central. I have a local NMRA open house in a few months and I need to spend some time with the basement's WC (ooh, that sounds bad). 20180605_194029_Burst01.jpg

Nothing planned this weekend. Birthday festivities start tomorrow and continue into next week as we head to Anaheim. After that I won’t be able to get back to modeling until August 6 due to work calling me to take a trip to Sacramento for a little testing (ha ha) then I will have a week before we head to Florida for a nice well earned vacation. See you all next month....

That's a fantastic photo of a really well done scene.

20 years ago I found myself in a similar situation with an ankle surgery in early July that year and then most of the summer in a cast. But I really did get a lot of modeling projects done that summer.

I'd be interested in seeing some info/pics on the N scale Asian layout/club. Didn't know that was a thing. I don't model any of it, but like to see different stuff.
