The narrator in the commercial sounds like the same guy that did the early BN movies. "Portrait of a Railroad" was the coolest thing I ever saw as a kid in the 70's!!
Oh yes, Portrait of a Railroad! A fantastic film in its day. I first saw it in school (I majored in Transportation/Logistics) and was enraptured. Made me want to go railroading.
BNSF (BN) 12345 at Auburn Yard today as I drove by, cool number!! Nice horn on the cupola too, for back-up moves!
I found the 12345 again today in Auburn, Wa-and this time actually at the end of a train!! This is actually on the tracks leading to the old GSA warehouses. The main is actually across C Street NW to the left!
Decades back, the MILW connected to what was a munitions depot there, on the other side.... Are these buildings still in use?
Yeah, mostly for storage of stuff now, mostly vacant. The former Milw, now UP connector has been taken out now, that intersection with Boeing is being redone. There's no access to it now, BNSF only goes way to the far south end.
They were running when it rolled by, but they were isolated from the power, so they were just idling.
