Hi I have the DCC++ arduino ono setup with a toshiba 15v power supply and cannot get it to see any of my locomotives (all Bachman). My decoder came all setup from the following seller on trademe and all I had to do was buy the power supply and wire it to the motor shield and connect it to jmri and a section of track.

    https://www.trademe.co.nz/toys-mode...tm?rsqid=641f0a5f78624bf788e57a7c4e0e7427-001

I can get the software to turn the motor shield on and off with all the leds on the motor shield on solid but I cannot get it to see my locomotives at all it just gives me the 308 error each time no movement from the loco at all and cannot seem to find a decoder? the locos I have been trying have been a ge 44ton switcher with dcc onboard from bachman and a dd40 with dcc onboard also.

I am using 4.16 panel pro.

308 error means that the loco doesn't acknowledge the read / write pulse ..
common causes are dirty wheels, a too low power supply, using a sound decoder [which draws more], or hooked up to the wrong pair . it needs a hookup to the programming track, not the run track ..

So I cannot just tell it to program from the main? I will set it to run the programming track and try again.
    Thanks.

I just changed the wiring to my small section of track that is doing the grunt work until I make space for a layout from the main line to programming output on the controller and the software has found my switcher so that is a good start. I can now get the loco to creep and identify in the software but cannot get the throttle to actually move the loco so I will see how I get on with tutorials from here and see If I can sort that out.

So I have managed to get the locomotive to program ok but cannot make it move? I put it to a section of track as mainline but she will not respond? My motor shield seems to be getting real hot and the power supply buzzes when the controller is on with jmri?

the program track is for programming, not movement .....
if you want to see if the throttle works, use the run / main track instead ..

Did you change the wires back to main before running it?

if the motor shield is getting real hot, it sounds like a short-circuit. you didn't connect both the programming and main line leads together did you?

I managed to solve my 308 error problem reading a Tsunami 2 decoder - but the solution is also likely to work with 308 errors with other decorders. I posted this to another discussion thread on this board, but though some might find it on this thread useful.
