DCC is not as dangerous and dreadful as you may be thinking. It is all about good and consistent wiring of the layout! This is no different than with DC
I figured since I am an ex-Sun Devil that I might get a pass! No such luck! I guess that this is still better than being a wildkitty
Was testing a new Life Like PA-1. Ran about 20 feet hit a switch went to floor. Luckly just broke some stirps. Had Life Like FA-1 and Erie Built get stuck on a switch on N-Trak layout. Melted front trucks. A kid at show threw a cross over on N-Trak layout. My Bachmann K4 crossed from a DCC to DC line. Melted rear axle on tender. Never has run right again.
Well, I accidentally switched my power supply to the G scale setting and launched my train off the layout at warp speed. The cab got smashed a bit. Now if you believe that tale I have some fine real estate for sale 20 miles south of Galveston, Texas that I can sell you real cheep.
Actually could have been plausible if that were a Model Power metal bodied FP7. BTW, if you have submerged land 20 miles south of Galveston you are a very rich man... considering all the oil an gas platforms out there!!! Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
I was there during the Kush era too, the tail end of it anyway..... And I also recall a locomotive the ran afoul of the turnout and melted the front trucks...... On a NTrak layout as well
I put a display shelf up when I got my kato super chief. I didn't have the diesels yet, so I put a BLI es44 in front as the engine. The whole shelf came off of the wall. The kato cars exploded, but they didn't take any damage - it was just like putting a giant puzzle together. The diesel broke the truck, but BLI pulled through and there was no lasting damage.
Thank goodness all was salvageable. A rare occurance when that type of accident happens... whew! Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
I wanted one of those GP-60 really bad ! The super fine details did scare me off. I have BIG hands and was afraid those details didnt stand a chance. Still..that is one fine looking locomotive. I may have to get one...if i can find one...and take an Ativan or 2 before handling it...lol
My dumbest moment operating trains came while operating some 1950s vintage Lionel O Scale trains at my grandparents' house. I was about 12 years old and was operating the big 12-wheel Lackawanna Trainmaster diesel (the thing is a best - it has two large motors, and could probably pull a dog if an O Scale car could be built to hold one). I was explaining to my cousin, who was 3 years younger, how important it was to be careful when since there were no guard barriers at one end of the layout, and I was feeling very self-important as I lectured him on this point. But I did not pay attention to what I was doing, and proceeded to launch the Trainmaster off the end of the table, and on to the uncarpeted hardwood floor below. The damage to the engine was that only one small piece of plastic, about a 1/4 inch square and near the screw on the end, chipped off. And it ran fine. Unbelievable.
