And a few mew videos. The first is a trackworker unloading concrete ties, Then another empty coal train, And finally a manifest.
Some random shots, a BN GP39M hiding on the service track early in the morning, Some big GE's the same early morning, Then a couple of evenings later, a couple of good old warriors getting serviced And lastly this loco, sitting on the sand car track waiting to be picked up, since yesterday sometime, we are talking 36 hours or more,
Tried a few more night shots, it turns out that my camera will not do video in this light, but pics come out ok,
I do now, right beside the service track area and my street is also the access road for that area. So, yup, trains and locomotive noise all the time!
What kind of camera do you use? Besides my iPhone. I have a Nikon P900 this thing can grab anything thats very far away. Now the Nikon P1000 is out I could be viewing and recording a lot more. I use the P900 not only for trains but also to do close-up on the moon.
I use an older JVC GZ series camcorder. It goes ok for a budget price. There are days when I am trying to work around and do get awfully distracted!
Like yesterday evening, I had been seeing this set most of the day, soooo I had to walk out closer to it and snap a few shots as the sun was heading down! And that walk put me neat this rotary, And turning around, the stockyard has an old wooden boxcar and cows!
Thanks ! I do enjoy putting stuff up here. Seems like there are still a lot of interesting days ahead for the railroads, and hopefully I will get to video and photo some of it in my little neck of the world!
Yesterday evening the Sidney local was returning with this bunch of cars, There is a RailGon near the front. This pair of units has been lashed up for a bit for use on the Sidney local. The 9778 has a horn that sounds like it swallowed a pigeon!
Must be a SD40 (not -2). As far as I know SP used SD40s and SD40-T2s (Tunnel Motors), not SD40-2s. Dom
He's talking about the cascade green BN unit at the top of this page. BN had a lot of -2's. And their last paint change was the whiteface cab with the white pinstripe on the upper half between the green and black. Sharp paint when new!
I got out of town yesterday and just out of Terry, saw the only train on our trip to and from Miles City, Christmas shopping y'know.
Brrrrrrrrrr!!!! Got a chill just looking at this!! Ever stop at that "Prairie Unique" store? Looks like a great "tourist trap" spot!! When we drove to Yellowstone 2 years ago, we must have stepped foot in about 10 of these!!
