For a while I was finding great deals on the light mountains,Connie’s,2-6-6-2s and 2-10-2s. Then the market went dry. What appears now are overpriced. Did us steam loco fans finally exhaust the surplus?
I could joke and say most are in my rail room. Did go a bit bonkers , ended up with five connies , light and heavy mountains and a 2-10-2 and a Mogul. At least i'm not hoarding T.P.
Possible that it's dried up. What I'm seeing Bachmann making more and more of is DCC On Board or Sound. And with those command a higher price. They see that as the future so they are concentrating on that market. You still can find DC Bachmann steamers for reasonable prices (new) though if you look hard enough.
Are you interested in some like new Bmann Steam? I have a few thet are DC that have virtually no time on them at all.
I was given a 2-8-0 with the right side drive rods damaged. I just replaced the rods from a junk donor mech. last night It now runs great. just need to get a tender for it now.
Don't know what happened. It's in my "sent" conversations. I'll copy and paste here: Hi. I have a basically new (TRO) Bachmann 4-8-4 GN Steamer with Vanderbuilt tender, item #58161. This is a very sharp looking, perfect running loco that I traded for, but I do not run steam. It comes in a large plastic Silver-series type jewel box. It lists about $175, but I will sell at the ridiculously low price of $70 shipped free to the lower 48. All original paperwork, inserts, etc. Thanks. Lowell.
I have one already. Might go back and ask the originator of the thread. He is looking for inexpensive steam but only if fits his specific prototype.
