Hi there all. This is Ciro from Naples, Italy. Played with H0 model trains when I was kid in late '60, early '70, then in teen age I abandoned this stuff, but kept all models in a box. Now (5 years ago) I opened the box with my 7 years old son and from then we started building a layout and upgrade all the locos to DCC running them with a cheap Hornby Select controller. As it would be a "nowadays" game play for my son, I got the Hornby Railmaster/Elink system that allows running the layout using a PC and handheld satellite devices (smartphone), he likes this way more. Of course lot of money were spent to add "brand new" running materials (bullet trains...) to the "vintage" old trains. Now I'm into DCC++/Rocrail for testing and implementation of BOD (block occupancy detectors) on the layout. Greetings to all model railroaders here.
Benvenuto! Thanks to model railroading, I know a couple of other Italian terms: Locomotiva a vapore and: Lampadina Doug
Welcome abaord, Ciro! Italy made a big impression on me the dozen or so times I visited, while on business or otherwise. I love the culture there. Food, wine and gelato!! Never found a bad vino rosso della casa... Stay safe and healthy out there!
Hi Maurizio, I'm the same Ciro of italian Trenoincasa forum. There my nickname is Pietrarsa. Greetings
