As seen in June 1988, a unit coal train heads south through Georgiana, AL on the former L&N main between Montgomery and Mobile. As seen in the second picture, a branch to Andalusia, AL and Opp, AL left the main here.
Nice Stealth unit leading! The middle unit is an SD45-2, nearest I can tell from some quick googling. I thought it was an SD50. The old man at work; photo by Glen Siembida:
"Work" Terrible definition! After a successful train chase in the afternoon, got home to see this rarity parked in my backyard,
About 60 miles east of Montgomery is Opelika, AL which finds a depot and the crossing of the Western Railway of Alabama's line to Atlanta and the Central of Georgia's line between Birmingham and Columbus, GA. In May of 1985 I caught NS with a southbound and in February 1990, CSX moving past the coaling tower with the 7526 leading a westbound.
