I'm digging on the realistic paint peel weathering around the drivers... it takes a skilled modeler to pull off that effect! :ROFLMAO:

It never ceases to amaze me how many people seem to think that by taking an old model and giving it a custom paint job, this is somehow supposed to increase the value of the piece? I suppose there's no shortage of new collectors who think they stumbled on an undocumented model that for some unknown reason everyone else is simply ignoring...

Whenever I see a steam engine model pictured, or in person and the tender is turned backwards to the engine, I begin wondering- 'do they know anything about railroads?' I understand it could be accidental, but that just makes it sloppiness instead- which again makes me wonder..... And, yes, it did happen on the prototypes. However that was rare or not at all common, whichever way you care to say it.

Just remember junk is junk and no matter how it's painted or packaged it's still junk.

I'm not referring to the above mentioned brass locomotive but you want to be careful with other brands out there.

@BoxcabE50 -- It wasn't accidental, this seller did the same thing with the other Hallmark loco they are selling: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172606977065

Surprisingly, they do have other steamers for sale where they have the tender positioned correctly, which only seems to further emphasize that they have no idea how trains work and were simply referencing someone else's photos. The funny thing is I see the draw bar attached to the loco in one of the pics, so there's only one way the tender could possibly be connected.

The thing that I like about people who don't really know what they have is that it's cheap. Even with the photography, 250 seems a decent price in a buy it now listing. If it was auction, I could see it going over that price.

Or they think they have something special and don't understand why nobody wants to buy it at twice the going price.

I just love the ones from people who do so many bulk sales that they can't even bother to look at their own listings. "Car stereo with DVD player!" Then deep within the pages of description... "This model does not have a DVD player." Funny, your title and picture very plainly lead me to believe it really does have one. And so many times not one piece of information corresponds... "New fuzzy socks", shows picture of a toaster oven, description gives the impression that you can pick up 40 channels (not a real listing, but some of them seem like it). I mean come on, would it kill you to read before hitting the submit button?

Apparently it would, as we see plenty which need at least some, if not severe editing.

The link expired a while ago but while I was looking for Undecorated Dash 9-44CW locomotives, I ran across 3 Rail Power ones. 2 had their powered chassis and motor for 60 shipped, good deal. The third one was just the rail power shell....at 300 dollars. Seriously? What is that seller smoking? for 300 I may aswell buy an Intermountain or Athearn RTR DC Model. I'm going to go sit over in the corner now, my head hurts from the hilariousness that is ebay sellers.

Whew. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find one of these.

The all too rare: Already played with beyond recognition/only half the train car auto-transporter/ Co cars NOT included/ no box/No reason to buy this

“IS MISSING SOME PARTS AND NEEDS A LITTLE GLUE ON THE TOP DECK TO FIX IN PLACE”

Uhm. like half the train car?

"Item is in used bug good condition. Please look at pictures carefully. "

    Yeah, it's used and Buggy.

When I scrolled down, a Play Art 3 dome tank caught my eye. A steal at only 10 bucks and only missing one complete truck. But to have horn hook truck mounted couplers again! Hold me back boys and girls!!!

Reviving a stagnant, but popular thread.

This one will makes your eyes roll. Too bad they aren’t worth this much, I have a half dozen in the parts box. I could have been sitting on a gold mine!

While there is nothing wrong with the price or the seller, this has to be one of the craziest things I have ever seen. From what I can tell, this is a fictional locomotive that was based off of the EMD F series or PA (based on the trucks). The name DL800 seems to evoke ALCO too. There are some in European paint schemes, but this one is in BN cascade green. I think I may have been custom painted. I guess this was Marklin’s attempt at competing in the North American market.

Stock models with the original box appear to be highly collectible in the Marklin community. All the others on eBay appear to be in the $1400-1600 range.

Don't be fooled by pricing on E-bay. It's a false market as in a pricing misrepresentation. Not true market value.

As a Eastern Proverb warns, let the buyer beware.

Actually "Caveat Emptor" as we have come to know it was from classic Latin. Origins, the region of Latium, (Southern Europe, and the area from which "Latin" acquired it's name), which was west coast of today's Italy and encompassed Rome. :)

Best offer on my part would be $25.00 and that would be high.

Ohmigosh! I have one of those! B&O just like that one. And to think I had planned to compromise it with an old Stewart FT shell. I'm horrified.:eek: If I remember right, I paid $17 for it. Musta stolen it. :ROFLMAO:

Just think you could cash in and retire!!;)

I would have taken the B&O shell and put on the Stewart/Kato mechanism.
