Hi N Scalers, Can anyone tell me where to find a chart showing decoder interchanges? For example I have an NCE decoder part # and would like to see which Digitrax or TCS decoders fit the same locos? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Lowell.
I just got an Atlas Classic GP-35. Found NCE N12A2 listed for it, but I wondered if I may have a similar decoder that would fit. So I need to know interchanges. Thanks. Lowell.
The easiest way is to look at the TCS and Digitrax sites. They show which locos take which (of their) decoders For this case: TCS ASD4 Digitrax DN 163A4
I wouldn't want to be the guy that tries to make such a chart. The decoder world is very fluid and keeping it up to date would be a full time job.
Google is your friend. Google DCC decoder chart and Lo and behold you will find that Fifer Hobby Supply has just such a chart (Fifer is a Trainboard advertiser). https://www.fiferhobby.com/dcc-decoder-fitment-page/
Very informative; I just wish it were not just an image, and at least had text I could copy and paste into the searchbox, if not actual links to the products on the site... It even looks like the image was taken of a table with such links.
The OP requested help in locating a chart showing decoder interchanges. I provided exactly that. As for your wishes and/or wants maybe try Google?
Inkaneer, I apologize that the tone of my response was unclear, and taken as critical of your post. I assure you that was certainly not my purpose. I have seen that chart before, and was merely indicating that it, the best cross reference I have found, is truly very informative, but is not as useful as it could be, for the reasons given. Nevertheless the chart remains useful as is, as does your post recommending it Sincerely, Andy
