Do you know when the picture was taken?

It was when W.P still owned their own track. There is no way for me to know when it was taken. I'd have to find the picture first to know any history about it. Sorry about that.

No worries, passenger movements on the Keddie to Klamath Falls line are interesting to me.

I originally was looking for any type of Great Northern, passenger train anything from a mail train, mixed freight to a officers special that might have come all the way down to Sacramento.

I went back and re-read the original post and wondered out loud how anyone could follow that. I write in rough draft form and usually come back to finalize. So you have unfinished thoughts running into each other. Sorry about that, or not. Grin!

I'm looking for a picture of what I remember to be a passenger train standing in front of the Sacramento Western Pacific Train Station. A passenger train parked out in front of it with people out and around it. O ogling over it. If memory serves me correctly it had Great Northern and Western Pacific passenger cars. Most noteworthy a Great Northern Streamline style passenger car. This could have been added to the California Zephyr, but then you'd have to explain the W.P. Heavy Weights in the consist. This could have been the last run of the California Zephyr, or some such.

Pretty sure I own that picture. But still unpacking and still haven't found it. All my books are packed away. I'm sure you know the drill. Heavy stuff on the bottom and lite weight stuff on top. So, it's going to be awhile before I get to the bottom of things.

Best news I've started work on restoring my old layout. First things first, it needs to be cat deloused (scent of cat removed) and then legs installed.

Fan of the Milwaukee Road, SP&S, NP and the Southern Railway. I also model a proto-freelance Southern Railway coal branch.

And I forgot, chalk it up to middle age, the Soo Line. Modeled it and miss the real Soo.

Yes, I'm a fallen flag modeler. As I started on the C&O, I'm modeling that plus I'm building what I'm calling the Predecessor Yard. It will be filled with rail cars and locos from the Flags of the road that make up CSX Transportation.

Trying to...I grew up along Metra’s North Central Service/WC’s track. My focus was on Metra but I’m building up my WC fleet right now. Three gondolas, six boxcars, and a non-proto autorack (with seven more to convert) in WC scheme with a 5 each CN gondolas and autoracks mixed in. Pulled by CN for now. No WC locomotives yet but they are on the way.

This is an old thread, but what the hell. I model C&NW, EJ&E and B&M. I got my son started in BN. I'm alao acquiring some WC in attempt to get my wife involved. This is all in N-Scale.

I grew up along the Milwaukee Road, then we moved and I was exposed to the C&NW daily. Modeling any of the current behemoth/mergers is just uninspiring.

Well, almost 20 years ago but... I still model BNSF, now in Z-scale, in 2007ish timeframe.

However, I now also model BN and MKT(UP) in 1989 in N-Scale. In 1989 UP had officially taken over but MKT power was still clinging to life. Atlas is close to bringing out another release of the MKT GP40, and Intermountain did an SD40-2 which I also have.

I have a similar history. I grew up, here in Austin, with the Milwaukee Road and Chicago Great Western railroads. Austin was a division point for the road and there were fairly substantial facilities here through the early fifties - roundhouse, engine house, turntable, coaling tower, water tank, ice house and platform, and a fairly good sized yard. Most of these were gone by the time I was old enough to have seen them but the engine house, icing facilities, and yard were still there.

I moved to Rochester in 1981 where the C&NW had its presence. I vaguely remember seeing the CGW engine house on south Broadway and the purple locos (prior to the 1968 merger, on trips to Rochester) until 1983 when that was all removed. Of course, the C&NW had acquired the CGW in 1968.

I moved back to Austin in 2016 and the engine house and yard are gone but the former Milwaukee Road track is still in operation, run by the CP. The CGW track is long gone.

Well, I guess I need to update this as the Kansas City Southern has been added to the fallen flags and is no longer an exception that I noted above.:(
