The layout is in era 1890, and is all small steam .. overall size is fifteen feet by sixteen feet . The inclination is 2.5 per cent, with the most elevation being on the left hand end, about nine inches or so .. The radius is mostly twenty inch, with some being more . It has been up for seven years now, and the attached layout file is in Scarm format, you have to download Scarm to view it, but it's free .. Overall design is kinda a 'U' shape, with turn arounds at both ends , there is a small town in the middle, mining on the left end, a sawmill on the left / middle, and trees to be cut on the right end..A track is also included for 'off site' access ..It is a combination of mostly flex track with some sectional track, all track is soldered, turn out are not ..Ground throws control the turnouts, and the is no 'lectricity on the layout itself .. The track is Atlas code 100, and the turnouts are -mostly- Atlas custom line number six ...

The description sounds interesting. Standard or narrow gauge?

Thanks for the heads up on Scarm. Only took a couple minutes to download it ( http://www.scarm.info/index.php?page=download ) and install it and bring up the track-plan...

usual chain of Tichy 22 foot ore cars, updated with Kadee coupler [no 5s], and Intermountain metal wheelsets [unfortunately smooth back], or a chain of home made flat deck cars , frame is stick lumber glued together, or CNC machined complete frame, then deck, and [sometime] vertical chain brake wheel added [nothing else underneath] .. all are 'truss rod' style, even the lightly modified Keystone log cars ...[metal framing]

    yes, it's HO
I -think- only the one car has nut/washers put on the ends, the other cars were plain, and just the one car with brake chain wrapped up underneath the brake wheel ..

I built a bunch white metal N scale Quality Craft log buggies thirty years ago. I tried modeling the method of wrapping a sapling around the chain. I used a very fine root. It was tough.
I finally wound up just using the top log tensioning method.
That chain was like 30 or 32 LPI. What a PITA to untangle.

I love the bunks on those log flats. I see some great scenes here. Do you have a particular way you're running it? Any thought about having a logging scene at the top of that hill?

    This is a cool layout.

I see one car in one of your shots that looks like possibly a maintenance of way or fire control car? It has a tank on half of it and what looks like a box portion on the other half. What's the story with that car within your layout?
