    Hauling giant potato chips?;)

I see a 4300 mm stenciled on one end of the big one. That's a tad over 14 feet. They'll need some route planning...

From 07/05/1977 are two photos taken at Red Bank, NJ. Two battered Es take a New York & Long Branch commuter train south. That's the CNJ's BANK Tower in the second picture, a manned armstrong plant at the time. The tracks diverging to the right are CNJ's to its lines in south Jersey over which the famous Blue Comet once raced to Atlantic City.

It's April 1980 and grimy F-7 No. 425 is leading a "scoot". Next stop, Fox River Grove, IL.

That lightning-stripe NYC scheme is timeless. Nice touch of class that looks just as good on the more recent locos as it did back in the day.

The C&NW did operate "subscription cars" open to members only. They were single level cars painted in green and yellow, and made a nice sight. I think one of them may still operate on the line between Chicago and Kenosha, WI, serving the tony "Gold Coast" of upscale suburbs.

Thanks for the info. I guess I forgot to state the reason for my question. After a long day of work in downtown Chicago...

Whoa, that is crazy amazing that you noticed that match. :) Out of ~75 former PRR E-8s, that's extraordinary that Kato chose a number that matches perhaps the only one I caught on film. Thanks!

A short EJ&E freight with ample power (GP-38-2, SD-38 and SD-38-2) works through Barrington, IL in about 1976. Looks like a newly minted RBOX ahead of the caboose.
