Seeing as good quality Z-scale products are hard to find, anytime I see something of interest and acquire it (and find the quality is there),I like to notify the community.

Found this two track portal set on eBay using the following search:
2 TUNNEL PORTALS CUT STONE / BRICK

These are 3-D printed and we all know that the quality of some products being peddled are OK, but others are a much higher quality. I was rather impressed with these.

What appear to be bricks or stones on the portal wall face, have a rather deep recess behind them. This adds degree of depth to them, although it may be too much. I think I have some tricks up my sleeve that can fill the recessed areas and make them look more realistic (as if cemented in), while still retaining the depth. Although they are not too bad and in reality they could just be left alone and used as is.

Pretty much anything that represents brick or stone can be 3D printed with any of the many types of printers, because step lines or extrusion layers don't really detract from those types of models appearance, and all of those can be selectively sanded as needed for a great finish. That said, those are very nice looking portals!

Well noted Rray, and agreed. Although I don’t have a 3-D printer yet, it’s on my future wish list.

This portal set though is very nice and workable. And it does not have a European appearance about it either.

Oddly enough the selection of portals out there in Z-scale is a bit slim. But isn’t everything in Z???

I just wanted to add that over the last year or two I have purchased some of their items and have been pleased so far.

Per my request for a single track portal to be made, the maker of this product already had them spooled up and they are now available on EBay.

Use the following search: 2 TUNNEL PORTALS CUT STONE / BRICK for Single Track - Z Scale 1:220 Gauge PORTAL

$12.83 for a set. Not bad.
