While chasing CP train 498 and CP 7010 leading, we discovered an easter egg trailing, CP 82, the Strathcona. Baden Siding: Minot yard:
Continuing my series on distracted driving rail-fanning, I snagged this shot on Texas Highway 6 just north of Bryan near Campbell's Creek.
From about 1975, what I think is Train 599 is stopped and awaiting a "scoot" (a commuter train) to pass by at the end of triple track main at Barrington, IL. 599 was a Chicago => Madison, WI manifest which was often heavy with tonnage for the big Chevy plant at Janesville, WI, now closed.
If you consider this CP AC4400W I shot in Montreal, QC, some years ago, number board colours don't seem to deal with any regulation nor significance. Dom
From July 1976 somewhere in the Newark, NJ metro area, I snapped this grab shot of LV SW-8 "pup" 268 from the open window of a CNJ commuter train.
That parallel S-curve looks great. I could envision a nice tele there! "Juke's Tree of the Northgate: Northbound" The northbound Northgate Local digs into the grade and climbs another hogback on the Niobe Sub MP 12, a few miles north of Bowbells, ND following a frosty morning storm.
NS Heritage units have seemed scarce on the Harrisburg Line over the past couple of weeks. Today NS 8105, the Interstate heritage unit, trailed on NS 294 heading East to E-rail in NJ. Philip, please decipher the inscription. I'm an Olde Pharte and much modern hieroglyphic art is lost on me. Though this, I must admit, is quite clever and artistically pleasing. Thanks.
Dom, obviously the supervisor or quality control inspector was neither for/nor against apathy. Frankly, I don't think he/she gave a damn.
Is it not odd that this branch is welded rail? Seems juxtaposition to me... CP train 293 rolls at track speed and crosses a feeder tributary of the Des Lacs River, just south of Bowbells, ND. And a little see-through scene.
From 1976, a four-car Chicago-bound "scoot" is nearing Barrington, IL and will soon cross the EJ&E at Barrington Tower to the right.
