    One thing, in the world of 21st Century railroading, that is missing in most yard offices - a Yardmaster.

    Railroads have consolidated the yardmaster responsibilities of many yards into single yardmaster that is remote from many of the yards they have responsibility for. When coming on duty crews contact the remote yardmaster for their instructions and during the course of their work will update the remote yardmaster with necessary data.

    There has been no yardmaster in my area for a long time now. Trying to recall, but it must be at least fifteen years.

    That was the hump tower when there was a small hump yard.
