My latest purchases have been cork roadbed and sections of flex track -- im trying to get my primary loop done, so I can be running some trains!
jlundy46, how did you remove lettering ??? Trying to remove lettering from a Kato GG1. I've tried everything but a chisel !!!
Kato models are notoriously difficult to strip. You may need to wet-sand it with a very fine grit sandpaper, unless you want to strip the entire model and repaint it.
I bought a musty-smelling stack of Railroad Magazines at a garage sale 50 years ago and still have them. They're great fun to read. Harry Bedwell's fictional boomer Eddie Sand is a favorite.
Not model but prototype related, bought something else for a future planned Shadowbox display to show off my piece of 4449, and other assorted Daylight memorabilia I’ve collected. And yes it does have all 5 postcards in it.
I have purchased several of Outland's kits and I have been very happy with them. They are simple, basic yet do the job perfectly. I am working on a apartment building I think right now, but oddly there is no door... Kinda weird...
Yes wierd it is. Sounds like it is an apartment version of the Hotel California... "you can 'check out' any time you want... but you can never leave". Or... it could be fancy Raid 'roach motel' with a hidden 'one way' entrance. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
Run8Racing, I used Joe's Model Trains Decal and Detail Remover. I've had a small bottle for years so I don't know if it is still available. I use a q-tip to dab some on the lettering and let it sit for about 15 minutes and then use a q-tip to rub the lettering. It usually takes several applications. Then I spray the area with gloss coat or if necessary, gloss black to ready for decals. I have found gold lettering to be the most difficult to remove. John
I had to shave and cut some of the sides to fit close to perfect so that I could glue them. Overall for the small footprint, these are the perfect size. Luckily no missing doors.
Here is a link to the actual model from Outlands https://outlandmodels.com/collectio...hopping-centre-n-scale-outland-models-railway Looks good, and I didn't even notice the no door when I first bought it... OH well I will figure out something, that arched window in the front could become a door I guess.
As you mentioned later on the glass door might be the door? Weird! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just decided to leave it as built, and will wait and see if anyone notices when it’s on my tram module.
