Oh well, at least it will keep the tire in gauge.

But...ouch! The tire doesn't look too old either.

    :D

There are better ways to collect spikes! Wow, that was extreme! And it looks like it just went through the outer "skin" of the sidewall??

I'm on the other end of this story-working at a large independent northwest tire dealer, we have BNSF and UP two blocks away-you'd be amazed what I've seen stuck in tires over the last 20 years!

And yes, lots of tie spikes!

Oh my gosh Russell. :( Looks like a new tire that was ruined. Hopefully the wheel can be salvaged; it looks like the spike caught the rim.

Some serious karma there!!! Either a bad day at work (what did you do?) or a lucky day at work as you add to your awesome railroad spike collection (winner winner chicken dinner)!!!

From the mid-1970s, with a wave from the Op, EJ&E's No. 6 clears the plant at Barrington, IL. That's the C&NW's main in the foreground. Barrington Tower was closed in 2003 and demolished in 2006.

That Mogul is a beauty. And she's all prim and decorated for a parade!

Even the crew is dressed to the nines.

Well I tried to collect on the chicken dinner but it caught the next train heading out of town.

But then I did get to shoot some big trains with some more spikes in the foreground.
