Well I’ve started to run out of power and already needed to add 12v 3 amp external power for modules accessories etc, leaving me with needing 3 wall warts (1 amp pi , plus 2 amp track power /arduino) and no use of my iPad for filming videos, taking pictures, etc to run even a single module.

so I decided to just replace my entire micro DCC++ and RPi JMRI set up with ESU 50310 cab control with WiFi throttle and 7 amp booster. For $323 shipped for the whole system, vs $200-300 for a wifi throttle only or umpteen gazillion for a booster, it just makes sense. Plus I have a bunch of their ServoPilot v2.0 accessories so they will integrate easily to the station now.
And as small as it is I bet I can set it down the spine of the TTRAK modules... or even just underneath a module.

Even better, I can still use the throttle itself up at New Mexico Nscalers when COVID is over.

Painting, I'm always afraid I'd ruin the model. This year at some point I'll try some chalk and pastel.

Update - The front screen was a thin plastic film, but what the hay, the voltage seems to register correctly as did amps for one train and then there was this distinct ozone smell... The Digitrax Command Centre beeped 5 times indicating a short and that was the end of the ramp meter. Command Center and trains are fine. So there you have it... note to self if something is on Amazon at a price too good to be true - RUN!

Those amp meters are typically for DC and used in RC airplane applications, etc. DCC is modified AC so that may be the reason why it smoked.

These meters do work as many of my RC buddies have them.

Yeah, the RRampMeter does work really well but it is a bit on the pricey side.

The Museum (MCMRM) purchased 150 Pounds of SculptaMold and two cases of plaster gauze for the 28'x6' On3 exhibit Ben and I are building. When I told Ben I'd ordered 150 Pounds, he went ballistic, okay, just a little shocked. It arrived yesterday, his response, Oh Yeh, We'll probably use All of That.

That's what I like working with Ben. He's an artist, a visualizer. I gave up giving him numbers or quantities. Show him something, anything and he's off and running. I can't keep up. I come in the next day or so and see how he implemented a concept we had discussed, it's beautiful...WOW. More photos soon.

Gals/Guys, I wish y'all could work with a person like Ben. He has no ego, no macho, no goal, just a vision. And he listens to whatever bovine excrement comes from my brain or mouth. Sometimes he modifies it, sometimes he agrees with it, sometimes he ignores ir, but he he never disparages it.

Two new Atlas Master N scale ALCO S-2 DCC ready loco's, in ATSF Blue/Yellow livery, shipped today!!!

Now I've got to decide which non-sound decoder for them. Leaning toward either ESU 59827 LokPilot 5 Micro DCC or ZIMO MX616N Nano.

Went on a trip to Michael’s and ended up spending a bit more than I thought I was going to. I got the wood I needed to raise the buildings up to an acceptable level to the street of my Tram layout and I found a couple other goodies. I was looking for a project box for my module’s control equipment, and I found an old school looking wooden brief case. Now, I’m thinking more than just some DC/DCC switches and a PM42, I’m thinking a small LCD screen set in the lid, and a raspberry pi in the bottom running JMRI as well. I’m a Digitrax guy, but the DR5000 would fit nicely in this and still allow me to use my Digitrax throttles. Win win! And my last acquisition is an Iwata Ninja airbrush compressor. It got a screaming deal on it, win win for me,

Oh, and Saturday I bought another folding table for my modules to live on.

Today I received a Con-Cor/Kato Great Northern 4-8-4. Inside the case was a notice: "Due to governmental intervention with the yen/dollar exchange rates, we are forced to raise the price over what was advertised. You may call Pres Reagan w/your opinion 202-456-1414."

Dang... does anyone have a forwarding telephone number for President Reagan?
I want to discuss why we are paying so much for model trains since then.

Yea I noticed that those things became impossible to find a while back, and I needed some. I got some off eBay but I like the white ones better, these ones are too soft. They work but they are soft.

I would not say soft - rather somewhat bendable - makes them easier to cut in cases where I do not need all 12 in one strip. Its the plug and play with male and female that makes a huge difference for me anyways.

The ones I bought were black, and they were really soft. I prefer the white ones, they are a bit stiffer and still easy to cut.
