Bbbut, but, uh, where are the lighted inspection pits??? With steps on both ends??? Then you don't have to worry about flange clearances!
Ditto on @Mike C's comment about cleaning the track. Tends to take off the concrete paint if they are flush. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QFn9CRhZNhNkofqpldATJ5qqHn9NzhNM/view?usp=sharing
late to the discussion as always . . . a lot of the model car guys are moving to thinned versions of that craft paint for all sorts of stuff. There are a bunch of Youtube videos on how to thin and airbrush with it. Seems to do well in a 50:50 mix with windshield washer fluid, if you can get it really well stirred/shaken up before you dilute.
Wellllll..... Got all the slab concrete pieces for around the engine shop cut and test fitted. The angle pieces on the bottom are because I dont want to have to ^**$ with making pieces to fit into the switch on the bottom track. Now on to painting them a concrete color. Then they will all be glued in. The 2 square 'lego blocks' around the light poles will also be painted a concrete color...
That is going to look great when it's painted sir. I would have done the same thing with that angled section as well.
Ok.... I'm painting these front to back as I go. I dont want to be mixing them up as they go back down... I already see at least one problem...which I figured was going to happen. So I guess if i knew...its not really a proble...right ? I will have to trim a few pieces up as I start glueing them in... I will look at it all again tomorrow with fresh eyes... .
I do believe I will call the concrete slab work around THE Engine Shop 'Done'..........for now... From the North side of the shop... .
Hi George, The entire layout looks great, that scene really is an eye catcher, but you know what, the yard lights you cobbed together make that scene. How about a night shot? Be well, Carl
Carl and all tuned in here ya go. Fresh out of the frozen tundra !!! It's cold out there...lol First one is a night shot of the side of THERR Engine Shop with the new concrete all around it. The second is from near the turntable looking back at Lucky Penny Yard at night... The distance from the fiirst light to the last light is 9'9" !!! Note to self: Get them last 2 lights installed down by THE Turntable...
