Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, where ever you may be. Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. It's time to assemble and see what we all have on the list of projects for the weekend.

Saturday: If weather cooperates, I plan to help a friend move some NTrak modules and slowly start the process of reviving them. We'll meet for breakfast before picking up these modules and taking them back to his place. We are planning on having them set up for our first show in May so we'll have to see what repairs will need to be made after years of storage. After that, I hope to get my shop organized and work on the N scale layout.

Sunday: No real plans. With the weather we are supposed to get over the weekend, the plans we had, have been put on hold. I do have two antique hurricane lamps I need to work on. We loose our power out here a lot so having this form of light is much better then candles. More research on my N scale layout will probably be in order. After 9 months of searching for a prototype, I may just say "to the heck with it" and build an N scale version of the Palmetto Spur of Lance Mindhiem design. Certainly by me laying down track, this will all but guarantee the discovery of a suitable prototype!

So how about you? What is on your list this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, the 8th to see how we have done. Until then, have a great weekend, have fun, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

    This weekend 2 major plans:
    1. Drop the feeders on the coal branch tunnel to the bus conductors I got completed last weekend.
    2. Install 2 decoders: An old S2 (first engine I ever painted in 1988). This is an old Atlas KATO job that has 0 room for a speaker. I intend on using this in the staging yard and switching duties contained to Albemarle City. Putting in a TCS motion only decoder w/ a KeepAlive. Then a BL2 (Life Like) I have had for almost 20 years and never used. The C&O brought these east at the end of their days, usually East of Charlottesville and also out near Russell, KY. I will use this one for short passenger jaunts east bound. And west bound ending in Albemarle City. Putting a WOW sound kit TCS put together for this particular engine.
    3. Assuming I don't become bogged down on the decoders, maybe something else happens. We'll find out Monday.

    Have a great weekend all!!!

I hope to start some more demo on the layout this weekend. I have all but one turnout, which is in West Virginia heading this way, to lay the inter loop. First however I have to do the work to expand the width of the layout. Then there are those five cabooses needing weathering on the layout.

My weekend starts Sunday but will be short due to having to attend yearly classes and training on Monday and Tuesday. I hope to get at least one structure built Sunday. After that who knows. If I can get the modules out I can start painting the foam board and preparing for ballast.

So far, my only plan is to finish up my FT project. I have the hand rails to re-install - then paint. Clear coat the FT's - then re-install the "glass"

Hope Y'all have a great weekend,
    Wolf

This is another weekend of bowling, I bowl tonight and Saturday and Sunday I have to work on the Cleveland USBC mixed tournament, luckily this is the last weekend of the Tournament until the City Tournament in April.

I hope to add a second color to a boxcar though over the weekend and start lettering a covered hopper. Waiting for some parts to finish a boxcar and need to finish a Tangent G43 gondola kit before painting.

im gonna be moving slow this weekend -- but I'd like to see if I can get part of the interchange laid, and also figure out why the lead switch for the interchange causes a short everytime a loco goes through it -- its a peco, so I may just rip it out and put in an atlas and have done with it

It took me all week to get the wiring done to make that tempoary return loop / staging yard to work the way I wanted. So this weekend I will work on installing the track and bridge on the front line of the layout expansion. When that is completed the main line can be opened again and I'll start to run some test trains through the new area.

Wishing all of you a pleasant and fulfilling weekend.

I've given up listing non modeling activities and or goals.
Lately it seems as if posting them here places the kiss of death on accomplishing anything!

    FRIDAY
Start landing leads from layout parallel connector to terminal boards on layout.
Gather up craft paints and poster board, styrene sheet and scrap wood sheating for paint color charts

    SATURDAY
    Finish landing leads.
    Start on paint charts

    SUNDAY
Decide if I'm going to use common rail and SPDT block switches or use DP5P rotary switches for block control. I insulated and ran feeders to both rails of each block to keep future DCC option open.

    Work on paint charts.

A lot going on here. Hope all get done.
MOGUL AND CABS BLOG & TB.jpg

This pic shows the new Mogul at work spotting new caboose GM&O 2821 before heading to the service track. In the back, the shifter has spotted new caboose GM&O 2835 at the freight house for provisions before setting cars. Now that the cabooses are complete, I have four boxcars in the shop for upgrading. I did a spreadsheet on the caboose parts and found out each caboose has one hundred and thirteen components. Whew! I'm glad that's done. All be safe and have a good week.

This will be a one-day weekend so I am getting an early start today.

Friday: Need to take a vehicle in for minor service today. While waiting for that to be done I will head to a hardware store for some potting soil and a power strip. The power strip goes on my new workstation from a couple weeks back.

Saturday: Finally get to the reason for the new workstation, which is putting a Sherline lathe back into service after 20 years of idleness. That will include mounting the mill column and accompanying adjustments. Hopefully it does not take all day, but I left that much time if it does.

Sunday: Sharon and I will watch a soccer match in the morning. After that I will take Sharon to her mother's house (about 3 hours one way) where she is helping her mom during recovery from a minor back injury.

We will see it how it all goes.

    Stay safe

Well, there are plenty of things to work on but really no plans for this weekend. Just not feeling it today.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Hook up the LokProgrammer and get the Kato/Kobo E units set up. Have UP on the layout for the moment, will run some ABBA lashups if it doesn't get too cold in the basement.

But hockey and football weekend, so probably going to chill more than anything else.

My only goal this weekend is to get at least one turn on the helix in place and to cut some of the road base for the main deck that I've had sitting for a couple weeks while taking care of other projects.

I'm also aiming to get some code put together for the PWM output board that goes on my Esp32OlcbIO board. I started with some existing code that should support this but it is not working on the ESP32 so I'll be writing a custom version for the ESP32 instead of fighting with the code further.

The bathroom tile I need to finish the shower wasn't in stock and had to be ordered, so I got a 'free day' to work on the layout. I'm working on the industrial switching area. I laid the track but before I went any further I had to experiment with the wiring. I cut insulators in after the crossovers and placed feeders after the track leads and insulated the lead between the turnouts. It worked fine in one direction but kept shorting out in the other. Rather than deal with complicated wiring, I decided to add a local throttle to do the switching. I can run a loco in to the lead and pick it up with the local throttle and switch away. Problem solved. So it's back to working on finishing the scene. I also decided to simulate "street" running, so I cut craft foam sheets atop a thin veneer of Woodland Scenics styrofoam and cut them to fit. The height is nearly exactly even with the top of the rail. The piece between the rails is the tricky part. After that I brushed on chalks to weather the pavement, and started adding scenery. It doesn't match the prototype, but a couple of the buildings are pretty close. More work to do, but I'm happy with it. IMG_2391.jpg IMG_2392.jpg IMG_2393.jpg
