I know I should plan the layout before making the benchwork, but in my case I couldn’t get a sense for what I was going to end up with without trying to build the underlying structure first.

I’m really happy that 2 weeks after getting back into the hobby I have my layout surface built and levelled, ready to try flex track and test curves.

Originally I was going to go with Byron Henderson’s “Water Wings” 8x10 layout plan and stretch it to fill my slightly larger area and widen the minimum radius + add easements. Now I’m not sure, as I’ve modified this quite a bit and might just end up experimenting and drawing it in myself.

Waterfront station is very big. How space do you have?

That is 6 feet wide, so I should have easily 4-5 feet of the building. It is quite large, but I’m not planning a ‘replica’ per se. I’d like to get the spirit of the building without having to replicate precisely.
