Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great Weekend and got a lot done. Lets see how we all did.

Friday: Due to my hours from the virtual train shows the week before, I was able to essentially work a half day. I got a call from my buddy that the N-Trak modules he wanted to get had been delivered to his house. I made arrangements to meet up with him after work. After hauling everything down to his basement, we assessed everything and have determined we will have a nice set up for May 1st, our first show. We'll start getting a few work sessions together now and start working on our goal of May 1st.

Saturday: I did a combination of research and organization. While the studio/office is done, my train room/work shop has suffered since working from home started in August. The process of going through boxes, organizing and putting away is an arduous task but one that will pay off in the end.

Sunday: I was one of the few that did not watch the game, although, I was told my guy won another Superbowl. Rather, I spent the time making headway in the shop and staying warm. Our cold snap is unusually late this year and the -7 with a wind chill of -14 would mean working in the garage would be unbearable. I did get some headway in the shop and hope to be finished in a week or so.

So how about you? What did you get done this weekend? Let us know. We'll do it all over again on Friday the 12th. Until then, have a great week, stay safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Happy Monday all. Got done what I wanted for the most part.
    1. Got decoders put into the BL2 and the old Atlas S2. The Atlas needs some work on the body. I scored another S2 on ebay several weeks ago for replacement parts. It is a Pennsy. So the picture has the C&O S2 w/ the black Pennsy cab. That will be painted and then handrails and detailing go back.
    2. Dropped 5 feeders to the bus conductors for the coal branch approach tunnel. That's off the list.
    3. Also had a $$$ issue crop up. One of my Digitrax command stations messed up. It is an old DCS 100 I was using for programming. Has 2 big resistors that flashed out. I opened the case and they were scorched black. Not a serviceable item and almost 20 years old. Late yesterday, I researched the Digitrax website and then went shopping on line. I ordered a DB220 from Tony's that I will run w/ the DCS200 on the layout and move my old DB150 combo booster/command from the layout to programming. Not what I wanted to see yesterday, but se' la vi.

    From the decoder effort:

I spent some time Sat. and Sun. putting a cab on my SW1. It's an older HO Walthers , with the surgical tube driveline, but it runs great. I'm using a Cannon and Co. thinwall cab kit. The louvers under the engineers window needed to be moved up and reduced in size, there's still some "bodywork" to do, and I'll have a magnifying lens and better light before I try anything like this again. Still it's a lot closer to WP #501 than any I've seen. Now it's all about handrails, and some work on the grill. Someday I'll get it close enough.

I finished weathering this tank car. Mostly done with MIG Enamel paints. And a light fade with a few drops of white in flat varnish.

    Friday I finally started my own layout build thread;
Acme, an N Scale HCD Layout.

Saturday morning I woke up at zero dark thirty, wide awake and knew I wasn't going back to sleep for a while, so I laid out my control panel. It was very peaceful working in the wee hours of the morning.
The only sounds were the neighbors roosters and an occasional dream induced bark from one of our dogs. I was back in the rack at 5:00am. Slept until almost 10:00am, had a large breakfast of scrambled eggs and scrapple. (y) (y)

I finished mounting switches and began ringing out and labeling parallel connector leads.

    Sunday,
Rang out and labeled more leads.
    Performed snow removal.
Mounted parallel connector to control panel.
My neck and shoulder muscles got very tense from shoveling so I went to bed around 7:30 and slept like a baby!:)

    Have a great week!

I was able to get the bridge and the last of the track laid on the front line in the layout expansion area. It had been since about Thanksgiving that a train had been run over the entire layout so a bit of vacuuming was next. The first train out over the whole layout was a track cleaning train and after a few rounds with that I got to try out my new Micro-Train 68 ft DODX flatcars.

While those were running I did some more cleaning up in the train room and packed a couple of items for shipment on Monday morning.

I spent a delightful 45 minutes on Saturday switching the layout.

    That was all.

Due to a work incident I was able to get nothing done this weekend. With classes today and tomorrow, again very little will get done.

After spending most of the weekend days working on the brackets and jackpots for the Mixed Team, Doubles and Singles Tournament for the Cleveland USBC I did manage to get some stuff done this weekend.

Got half of an Athearn 2970CF Covered Hopper kit decaled, built an Athearn 50' Seico Boxcar kit, resurrected a Tichy Anderson's Sort of Covered Hopper kit that I had started before I moved back in 1918 and worked on completing it.

Have to install the brake gear on the B end of the car along with all the piping, then I get to glue in all the grabs.

My sole accomplishment this weekend was getting home safely, after negotiating a 600+ mile trip back home. Several hundred miles had winds, slush, ice or compact snow. And too many stupid people on the roadways. Not any fun. Am looking forward to being safe and warm next weekend, and doing some relaxing hobby stuff!

Didn't set myself any goals for the weekend as I was just in a blah mood Friday. Got up to a sore knee on Saturday morning. Drove the wife around to see a few things she wanted to see and by the time we got home, my knee was done. So, I had my son bring up the 10 freight car storage boxes I had not inventoried yet and sat in the recliner and worked on that. Sunday was no better but finished the inventory of the freight cars in storage boxes and then had my son swap those boxes for 4 more boxes that had vehicles to inventory. That leaves locomotives, the couple of dozen fright cars on the layout and maybe another 100 or so freight cars on the display shelves left to go. Might actually finish this project ahead of what I thought I would. Knee is still not any better today but at least I did accomplish something for the weekend. :)

Had knee problems myself recently. I do calcium supplements and other vitamins, but when I added Vit. E and A things got better quickly. Just a thought.

Stuff I saw above looked outstanding. Very little model RR time for me. Chores Saturday. Planning and relaxing Sunday. Today, more chores. Right now, there are still four boxcars in the shop for upgrades. Gonna' try to get 'er done by Friday. All stay safe, warm and healthy. :D

I had a good weekend. Demolished almost half of the layout. Saved the Grain elevator but could not save the track. I hope to finish this half for demo tonight. I will then start on adding the wood to add the expanded width.

I got the LokProgrammer up and running, set the 4 UP units up to use the speed curve instad of Vmin, Vmid and Vmax. They're pretty speed matched right now, but whoever gets the two I'm not keeping might want to do some fine-tuning. I also discovered the PRR units have a different ESU decoder than the UP's do, so I have some YouTube video watching to do (hate the default horn on the PRR units, sounds like a RoadRunner cartoon truck.) Otherwise, got a whole lot of nothing else done--and I was fine with that. :)

It felt like I had less time than I hoped for, but I did manage to finish my modeling plans.

Friday: Found a power strip I liked and mounted it to the end of the workstation.
    powerstrip ii.jpg

Saturday: Cleaned, assembled, lubed and squared up my Sherline that hadn't seen the light of day for over 20 years.
    mill ii.jpg

Sunday: Drove Sharon to her mom's house to help out while a sore back get's better. We usually spend 2 weeks each month there anyway since the pandemic began, but this is a little extra.

Monday: Returned to Bellingham. Started planning the setup I will use to put the Sherline back in action. Some of you may remember I was working on a Vanderbilt tender last year. I got hung up on the desire to drill some tiny holes. All the workstation and Sherline activity has been preparation to do just that. Maybe this coming weekend.

    Stay safe,
