Good morning, good evening, where ever you may be. Welcome back to that Gateway to the weekend. I hope everyone is feeling better and that the weather in your area is also getting better. I hope you are ready to tell us what you have planned for the weekend. Let's get started.

Saturday: After work today, I'll be heading to my "not so local hobby shop" to hopefully pick up a structure kit I need for the HO layout. Saturday however, we are planning on spending the day with Ang's Dad and I need to get the battery tender on the Mustang as well. At this rate, spring will be here. We are also going man shopping, looking at accessories for the bikes at one of the states largest HD dealerships. Yes, we have spring fever.

Sunday: It's back to model railroading. I'll need to set up the studio as I have a Live feed for a Canadian Virtual Train show later in the afternoon. Once that is set up, I hope I can work on the HO switching layout. Last weekends flub ups really put me behind as to where I wanted to be. Hopefully painting and track work can commence. We shall see as there is usually some kind of unforeseen distraction that seams to find its way into my best laid plans.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 22nd to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay warm, stay safe and be healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Hoping for a decent weekend after a week of mostly rain. May try and get out trackside if possible. Model wise, more work on the grain elevator, plant a few more trees on the layout and work on a GHQ bull dozer kit. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Good morning all,

The main project on the layout this weekend will be building up the hillside where the tunnels are in the Palisade Ranch area. The fascia that was installed last weekend is ready for paint but when I opened the quart can of gray enamel I use for fascia I found that it had dried out so will try to get out to get some more. Will also continue on the pair of flat cars and the military vehicles started.

Spring is also on our heels here in Northern California and I am starting to ramp up on the yard work.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend whatever you are doing.

Today, I will try to get a couple of cars painted and get ready for bowling tonight, hope it goes well, Friday has not been as good as my Tuesday night bowling, where I had a 213-257-226 for a 696 series.

Over the weekend I will be going to the club to run a few trains, we are hoping the restrictions on number of people end soon so we can have operating sessions again. Hope to get the two cars that I paint today decaled. Also need to work on some other cars.

I'm hoping to make progress on a work caboose I've been building. Also might start the handrails on my SW1, can't commit to solder or epoxy for the stanchions. Think I'll try epoxy first. Good thoughts going out to those affected by the weather.

I have a feeling I will still be dealing with snow and ice removal this weekend. I am not sure what other house chores lie in wait.

Since the framing is 95% of the framework for the layout expansion on the first board next is removing the pink foam on the second board. I have two scenes to remove, the Passenger Station and Island Cement works.

    Here is where progress stands.

My plans for the weekend is finally get back to work on the helix and if the weather holds out I'll get the road base cut for the first part of the main deck track. I'm also going to be doing some debugging on the ESP32 CS PCB but may be delayed pending a couple parts on order that are not likely to arrive until next weekend (even though they should have arrived this weekend)

Well, I got a bunch of really good reports from the docs on my followups, and I'm (so far) feeling pretty good, so I hope to get the interchange switch either troubleshot or replaced, the east end Arrival Departure switch in and hopefully some track laid -- we'll see...

    Have a great weekend everyone

Working from home today, so If I can get a few things done here early this afternoon, I will get a jump on the weekend later today.

    Plans are:
    1. Work on a few buildings I planned on hitting last weekend, but never got to.
    2. Ballast some track that will eventually be in tunnels or otherwise hidden below the future coal yard. I won't fully ballast. The track is sufficiently glued down to the painted homasote. I want to use scrap ballast I have just between the rails to give it another "fastening" boost since once I cover it over, I can't afford any of it to separate or require work.

Stay warm all and have a great weekend.

Last week I experienced a severe friction problem when train building/moving cars. I had expected some but this was a nasty surprise. I believed this was caused by components flexing and jamming. I saw some flexing of retainer pins when checking. This led to a redesign of the retainers and draft gear. Fortunately I was able to try an idea I had thought about some time ago. The idea worked and this will use less material and less part fabricating with less effort. The new retainer design so far has passed the preliminary testing. It should work well with much less "snagging" all around. Now, as usual, rolling stock will need to be upgraded. Thank to a modular construction method. This should not take too long. :sneaky: Stay well and safe everyone. And have fun! :D

Got my DC210 booster, but need to figure out the power supply. Then it's isolating the yard and station, and powering, testing, and programming the turntable... none of which gets done this week because... housework.
