Hi Everyone I've have been busy restoring a vw and with high school so took a long break from z for the past couple years but since I was recently given a few more pieces I figured I'd share these-anyways as many you are probably aware Nelson gray was Instrumental in american prototype z scale and he designed many of the early microtrains designs that we see today. I learned about him in one of my back issues of Z-track and have been collecting his pieces over the past couple of years. Notably all but one f7 is boxed for hobbyshop sale which is interesting because it contradicts what even a friend of his has said of his products, here is what I have-more photos can be added upon request. also old prices are marked from when they were originally sold. hope you enjoy!

    #100 60ft boxcar $4:25
    #102 tank car $2:75
#107 f7 without chassis intended for marklin conversion $9:25
#107 f7 chassis and shell (built and painted box missing)
    #200 nn3/z 40ft oldtimer boxcar $7:25
    #201 nn3/z oldtimer gondola $5:25
    #204w Nn3 caboose $25
    #303 fine scale usa couplers nn3/z (X6) $1ea
    #? nn3 0-6-0 conversion for nn3

Is this show and tell, or a sale? It is interesting to see these early Z pieces. The F7 caouls also be used for D&RGW, as it used dual headlights. One was retired by Rio Grande and ended up on Penn central. Sure looked odd with all the single headlight units PC had.

I was told 15-20 years ago that this was a Nelson Gray 0-6-0 shell. I haven't seen this mentioned and I am sharing a few photos. Its history is just hearsay unfortunately on my end. Bruce

    Bruce,
If it is cast, it is what my dad created while developing steam power in the early days of American Z.
Here's a link to a thread I created about my dad's stuff and his involvement with Z scale.

By the way, I sold the Nelson Gray items in the thread to a TrainBoard member.
