    Hi Colt,

They acquired the old Black Fox site in 2019 to expand the Port, it will have barge docking facilities as well.

I’m wondering if something will end up there for rail service. I don’t believe there is any rail service to the place though. I’ll have to check.

    Thanks,
    Dale

I did some looking on google maps today, there is indeed a rail spur into the area off of the UP Line just south of Inola OK.

Some weathering, these were done by Sammy Carlisle of Skiatook Oklahoma. Sammy is the owner of the Santa Fe Hereford Subdivision layout. Sammy does a pretty mean weathering job. They are now back home on the POCR soon to be running regularly in operations session. I am very proud of these cars, done by a super guy and friend!

    Thanks for dropping by!

Today I purchased 2 new air-ride seats for our engineers. These guys extend to 33” above the floor. This puts me sitting at the same height I would be standing by the layout. This is an effort to increase our operator count from 2 to 4, allowing for 2-2 man crews to run the layout at the same time. The engineer will sit back away from the layout at the aisle ends and allow the brakeman to work in the aisles coupling and such. They will extend from 29” to 33”.

This will require the engineer and brakeman to communicate distances and starts and stops. If we are aiming to operate as a simulation of a railroad, these kinds of things are important. Here’s looking forward to herd immunity and a return to more normal times!

Another BN hopper returned to the fleet. Next victim is a Frisco. So far about half the fleet is weathered and reflective striped. I used water soluble oils, pan pastels, acrylic paint on these.

    BoxcabE50,

Thank you sir! That is a very kind compliment! Doing these by hand takes about 6 to 8 hours. I’m going to be trying my hand at using the airbrush soon. I had got away from using the oils for a while but the rusting is really outstanding if you feather it in right. I really like the way the BN logo came out on the second car. Most likely the remaining 10 will all get that feature.

    Again, thank you!

Looking good Dale! those look spot on Sir! It is funny how the spilled seeds germinate on the tops of these cars. I mean sometimes you need a weed whacker LOL.

I used to add a little ground foam to simulate that to car tops. I’ll have to do that some more. Thanks for the reminder Tom!

2mm static grass might really look good.

Best part would be you can put it where you want it by locating the glue ahead of time. It's amazing how random you can make things look laying down glue in strategic swaths.
