Got to agree with that, brought a BMW X5 3.0 when we first moved here. Great fun and went like stink until the rear differential decided to s@#t itself on the motorway at 130kph. That was exciting and required a change of pants. Got rid of it and went with a Dacia Duster instead. Cheap as chips, robust and I don't care if it gets absolutely trashed by the dogs in the back. On a different note my package from China arrived today. Now the proud (maybe) owner of 500 plastic tree frames. for the price I paid I can't complain, but should be good enough in the background once they've had a few coats of paint and some leaves stuck on.
I’m on my 3rd wagon. E34 and e46 previous to my f31. Loved everyone of them. Easy and cheap to work on.
Wow! Ya'll could have had my '98 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4 with a mear 172K miles for $700. The only thing wrong was that it is missing half of one front fender. Forced to live in the city with it's salt. Other than that I'm looking at building at least one new layout. I have HO but wish to return to N.
my latest purchase is an OLD school tyco transformer like the original one I got with my first HO Set back in 1978 -- not using it for train control, but for the AC power for the atlas turnout motors until I can get the parts to build servo turnout machines TIM
Just received my N scale Virginia Midland 53' containers from JTC and they are great. They will also be releasing these in the coming months in V&O (Virginian and Ohio) and the AM (Allegheny Midland) in the Appalachian Lines. I believe you can only order these through them but shipping was fast and free. In the past FVM has done some locomotives and freight cars for the Appalachian Lines, but only in AM and V&O. This is the first time I have seen anything from Steve Kings VM so I really wanted these because of the three railroads, Steve's is the only one done in N scale. I would really like to see JTC do these in Utah Belt also. Ralph
Hi -- its gold and black -- -gold cover, black frame -- but I cannot seem to find a date stamp anywhere TIM
I'm guessing like this one? Mine is circa 1969 but I don't see a date stamp on it, only a stamp that says L31
Similar although not exactly the same -- the printing on top is slightly different arrangement etc -- it appears to be identical to the one I got with my original HO Scale set in 1978 my parents got me for christmas
I bet there's a lot of us who got our start in the hobby with one of those! That pic brings back some good memories!
Yeah... I remember that specific Tyco powerpack from the HO set I got in 1967. It was adequate for small roundy-round or figure-8 set up. It could handle a two powered loco consist... or running two locos simultaneously... but the speed would be affected. Never tried more than two locos... cause I could not buy them at 10-12 years old. I finally replaced a worn out Tyco loco with an AHM when I was 13 by saving a few coins from school lunches... but never got to use more than two powered units. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
Reminds me of the one I had when I got my first train set in the late seventies. It was the old red and yellow Rock Island Century 430 Alco locomotive and a few cars. For the smaller figure oval loop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got a message from Micro-Trains that my package is in the mail. Looks like I’m getting another of the planet set.
This was funny. The title is "What was Your Latest Purchase", it doesn't say of what, it just surprised me, then I laughed Good one!
Yes it was a great deal! Especially whenever it has Missouri Pacific markings! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As per my wife, It is now our official TTRAK module transport vehicle... or so she claimed when I bought it for her... so tangentially related to modeling.
