A California Northern Gp15 is spotting a flat with two diesel generators under a crane while the driver of the awaiting truck looks on.

The crane is an old, old Gloor Craft kit I picked up at a train-show swap-meet. Remember the days when you could find such gems as that?

The cab is Showcase Miniatures with the trailer is GHQ.

Yes, those two are just sitting there waiting for their order but we can assume that Bud is busy behind the grill making that happen!

    Another Showcase Miniatures product.

    Now for the $64,000,000 question.

What exactly are "Reno Burgers" or Vegas Burgers"?

Gin; what you get when it is discovered that you don't quite die from drinking paint thinner.

    I second that!

Since the gyms are closed due to COVID lockdown measures, the gin is a good substitute. It even sounds about the same if you drink enough of it...:ROFLMAO:

Because passengers are not going with, or carrying that baggage, it is being sent as express cargo to a passenger station, and someone is going to pick it up there.

    Yep!
They sure don't make them like they used to.
Which begs the question; why don't they make kits like this anymore?
Between Gloor and Campbell's and Western-something-or-other, there were a lot of nice wooden craftsman kits out there back in the day.

I only noticed because I used to SCUBA, and maybe you have one that isn't in frame, but if divers are in the water, the boat should be flying a red and white "Diver Down" flag. Great work.

"Technically" . . . the divers are, as of yet, not in the water but that's no excuse for not having a flag, it's just something I didn't even think about when constructing the scene, actually I wasn't even aware of the necessity of having one, even though I was a big fan of Lloyd "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue" Bridges' "Sea Hunt". I'll have to go about adding one along with that missing ladder.

The backside of "M.A.R.S. Industries". The crane is a modified Monroe Models product while the fork lift is yet another GHQ offering.

It was only a "Couple of years ago" if you've been traveling at near lightspeed for the past sixty+ years; (Earth standard timeframe).

Just one man here, but more inside the shop.
It is the early 1990s: ALCO RSD5 D6130 of the freelanced FRA railway in Italy had a massive engine failure after long years of faithful service up and down the mountains.
The failure is too much for the FRA shops to fix: they need specialized machinery that is only available at the National Railways (FS) diesel engine maintenance facility in Rimini, some 250 miles away.

Not willing to scrap the unit, since they have a shortage of motive power (and lease of a smaller FS units is out of question), they are sending it to Rimini for repairs.
Here a "just overhauled" FS D345 road diesel (ironically just a "1000HP to the wheel" unit) came from Rimini and is pulling the ALCO out of the shop in its first leg of this journey.

    6130 push 2.jpg

The FS engineer on the D345 is mumbling why a shortline rosters much more powerful motive power than the "almighty FS".
And also who hit the bumper on the track in the foreground :cautious:.
(The obvious answer is "because it is MY layout and I like US diesels", but do not tell him :p).
The "other" answer is that FRA has heavier tracks and can have a 20ton (metric) axle load on all lines, whether more than some FS branch lines at the time were (one is actually still) at 16tons, therefore FS has to stick with smaller units.

    Hey! where did everybody go?

The pick-up truck is CMW fitted with a GC Laser kit.

The Road-Railer fuel truck is a bash of Showcase Miniatures and an old Magnuson Models cast resin kit.

The cube in the background is also a GC Laser offering.
