Here are the photos of the combine I promised.

One thing to note. The instructions, and the pics provided with same, are fuzzy as to how the staircase is to be installed. I got it wrong but didn't realize it before everything was painted. As I didn't want to break the paintjob I left it as is.
The "Glass" in the cab is a Micro-Scale product whose name I can't remember offhand. It has been years since I've built anything RR related.

Do you have a PC old enough with the DVD player/burner? Or a kid with an Xbox One (it plays DVD and I think the Playstation counterpart does too)?

And if you really need one, a USB external player costs like $30. But of course it assumes that you have DVDs to play as now a days everything is streaming! o_O

Yep, have all those toys sir! :) Don't even want to think about how many DVD's and Blue Ray disc I have. Makes for cheap entertainment while working on trains and saves the streaming bandwidth for other stuff.

You can make them yourself using the printable decal paper (either clear or white backed) - you should be able to find some on Amazon or AliExpress. You can then print what ever you like on a inkjet and once it has dried you give it a coat of clear varnish to seal the ink. vola!

But that assumes I have all the paraphernalia needed, which I don't.

Yes, thanks for the photos, your combine looks great. The photos help me to understand as to why this can be a difficult build. As I spoke of earlier, if I mess up too badly, it will become a barnyard rust bucket queen along with a couple of disk and plows. I see alot of this on some of the farms around here. At Christmas time some people even put Christmas lights on them.
    Thanks again, Ralph

Well, got a bit of a surprise last night. Mentioned to my wife a couple of months back that I wanted to get a label maker so I could label some things like wires and connections on the layout. I kind of figured that comment had just passed by her like dust in the wind. Turns out I was wrong. She decided that she had a use for it as well so she used her Stales rewards and a coupon (another wife thing) and got this for almost free. It will be put to good use in the train room. (y)(y)(y)

Just realized today is both pie day and the 2nd anniversary of the JPT Sub tread!

Since I like pies and celebrating, I already had a bite of pie :D

Richard, eat a pie for me, I like those but it's been a long time since had one. Going to grocery store later may have to pick some up.

Your layout is looking fantastic, the grain mill is coming along nicely.

Well, its the Monday morning after the dreaded lose an hour spring forward time change. Think I will require extra coffee. I'm 2+ cups in at this point and still not feeling it yet.

Despite the nice weather this weekend, I did get a little done. Started with painting the under frame black and then putting a coat of blue paint on a 3d printed garbage truck. Still need to touch up the blue a little.

While at the workbench, I continued working on the decals for the main building of the grain elevator.

    20210313_180021.jpg

While the decals were setting, I cleaned up the area where I redid the base for the new grain elevator. It's much better than it was.

I'm planning on having some general interior lighting for the building that run along the top of the silos so I drilled the hole for that and for the interior light for the main building. Broke out the soldering station and made up the lights and wires to use. Not much to see here but a pic anyway. Tested the lights both before and after adding extensions to them. Learned that one the hard way of course.

If you have been following along for a while now and haven't figured out that I'm a true oddball or just plain off my rocker, well, here is a little help for you This is the small container that I use for warm water when I am applying decals. I have been using this same container for somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 to 15 years. The thing is that for some reason I have been compelled to just allow the decal backing to accumulate in it instead of dumping them each time I get fresh warm water. Why? Who knows, just one of those things I started doing and never stopped. Just felt compelled to share that but of lunacy with you all.

On to the silos now ...

With the light wires in place and decals on the main building, time to set it all back on the layout.

That bigger HO scale ADM decal for the one side of the building worked out super great or at least I think it did. Thank you to fellow TB member Blayne for making that possible!

Still many more details to add and need to get motivated to build that building for the top of the silos. My original plan for how to do it is out the window and I am trying to come up with something better.

In the mean time, I am thinking that this smaller elevator would work out nicely in the spot between the big elevator and the main line. Here's a look.

That pretty much wraps up the update from the weekend. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming :D

Didn't really feel much like working on the layout this weekend but I did do a little at the work bench.

I have these Herzog ballast cars that I started back in 2015 and decided I needed to finish them. I ran out of letters when I was first working on them so set them aside. I did pick up another sheet or the letters I needed but had never circled back to these cars. Came across them when I was doing the car inventory and put them on my list of things to do. I got the missing letters applied to one side of the cars this weekend. I also started to weather on of the ballast chutes. All that is left are 3 letters on the other side of one car and to weather the rest of the chutes. Not sure if I will weather the whole cars or not at this point. (Yes, I know 6 years is tool long to take to finish 3 simple cars)

    20210321_130226.jpg
Then I moved over to the trash truck. Put the yellow sign background on, and put on the rest of the wheels. I botched the paint on the front wheel on one side so will have to redo that. Have an idea for the name but still thinking that though. Still have a bit to go on this one.

    20210321_131603a.jpg

That's about it for now. Enjoy!
