    Hey everyone!

I had an HO train set 30 years ago. Not sure why I stopped, but it's long gone now. Recently became interested in the hobby again and bought a Kato N scale set. Having a lot of fun so far, but a little trouble finding modern vehicles in N scale, especially delivery vehicles.

I'm also interested in a system to get vehicles moving, like Magnorail. Not sure the best place to get that.

I welcome any N scale tips or website leads!

    Welcome to TrainBoard GreenDragonLady.
My vehicles are all 1940's or older and I've had them for years, so I can't help you with that.

It does seem like there are a lot of modern vehicles available and with 3D printing I'm sure there will be even more.

Modern era modelers will be able to help you.

    Once again, welcome!

    Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

Already have those! You already know I want U Haul. I'm also wanting USPS and UPS. I have the same ones above in UPS and TNT (I'll probably paint over the TNT since I've never seen it here). I wanted a UPS tractor/trailer, but the ones I've seen are ridiculously priced, so I may try to find a similar one and paint/decal it myself. Already sort of regretting going with N scale instead of HO because of availability of items that I want (plus I'm practically going blind trying to do all the little details). But space is at a premium, so...

I’ve got the DHL/FEDEX myself. I can’t help with modern trucks, but maybe I can help with cars. I’m stationed in Japan but my layout is in the Chicago suburbs/southern Wisconsin area so I’m lucky enough to run out to hobby shops out here and pick up a 6 pack of Kato Toyotas for about $6-$7 and they still work in my “turn of the (21st) century layout.” You can spruce the Kato’s up a bit with fine tip sharpies for taillights, turn signals, and tires. Not as well detailed as Tomytec cars which I can also get out here for a little bit more. Both of these are much more expensive when listed on eBay and don’t seem to be available through US hobby shops that I can find that have an online store that will ship to an APO. There are also very cheap ones from China sold on Amazon and often resold at a markup on eBay. In my opinion, those are best inside an autorack where you don’t see the lack of detail as much.

There’s also a thriving thrift store market out here so I supplement some of my semis with Tomytec truck collection-placed in ways you (mostly) don’t notice the Japanese logos.

Website for the Japanese Kato site is below-search for Part#23-500 (6x Toyota’s-$6.50/¥660), 23-520 (8x Nissan-$16.50/¥1650) or part#23-510 (8x tarped Toyota’s for $8.50/¥880). I recommend you use chrome for the browser so it translates. Also this is good for getting forklifts (#23-515) and container handlers. Not sure if they’ll ship overseas to US. But if not, now you’ve got part numbers and a reasonable price point.

Welcome aboard. Have you tried Shapeways? There are many 3D printed vehicles for sale there, all types and eras.

    Thank you...I'll check it out!

I have them bookmarked. One thing I don't like is that most of them show the digital preview only, not the finished product. Plus I was really hoping to buy finished vehicles that might only require decals. I'm lazy and I know this about myself.

Or you may just be a realist. As I'm sure many of us do, I have a large backlog of unbuilt kits, etc. I have had some of them for years. Your approach might just alleviate that sort of thing.

Some of the TomyTec vehicles are models that have been exported to the US and they are really nice models.

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

If you have not already done so, post your inquiry in our N scale Forum and you'll likely get a good number of responses. :)
