I've seen modelers use safety stripe they bought at a local auto parts store. Then they cut the stripes to their preferred dimensions. Heard tell you only need to buy the stripes once and it will last you forever.
I have never seen any that narrow in an auto parts store. The 1/32” seems to look pretty good for width. I just cut to length. Thanks!
This stuff does have some sparkly to it. I’ll see if I can sneak up there tomorrow night and get a flash picture.
Well guys, I tried it out tonight. It does not reflect in the dark. Guess I’m stuck with day operations. Here is another hopper. Think I have 6 or 7 more to do on this run.
They look fantastic there Dale. I have a few sheets of HO scale reflective FRA stripes around here. If I ever find them, I will send a few your way to see if you like them. I find myself kind of reverting in my MRR time. All my BNSF locos are either in storage are sold. Kind of back dating rolling stock as come across it now too. I just dont like where the RR have gone with PSR and all.
Still gonna run SD/GP60's. And a few pre merger SD70's. Basically, no B**F markings, just kinda disappointed with modern RRing. But thats just me. You folks have a blast, I enjoy seeing your efforts.
Tom, If you find them, I would not turn them down. My era is pretty much set to now to say very recent past because of the Port. I’m more these days into the operations aspect of modeling. But it’s all fun! Thanks, Dale
Got to do a bit of work for my friends at the KCS 3rd Subdivision. 704 needed some handrail work. We are done and she is headed back to home rails. Crossing Keystone Road.
Looks good to me too Dale. With a CP/KCS merger pending, those SD's and KCS paint may be going away someday soon.
Hi Vince, Tom and logging loco, Thank you! I did add a bit of grime to it to compliment what was already on it. The body had some weathering, but none on the frame. So I added some pastel chalk to it. Mainly just the lower from the sills down. This one has DCC and sound, it is set up for a large layout area so it’s pretty loud in my tiny room. I did do the sun shades, thanks for noticing. Steve (KCS 3rd Sub) has been a great friend to the POCR and jumped in with some Digitrax when I made the change from the Bachmann system. So anytime he has a little work, I like to jump in. Besides, he has some great equipment! Dale
One of the locations on the Port of Catoosa layout is Gavilon Grain. During operations we use this industry for two spots to receive cars. The inside track is for grain cars and the channel side track is for trans loading for direct to barge. Gavilon IRL not only handles grain, but it will take bulk cargoes of other commodities. In this instance we are receiving gypsum that comes up from Texas. 2 bay hoppers weathered with acrylic paints, oils and pastel powders. Thanks for looking, Dale
Thank you very much sir! I was looking for something quick to do last night and decided to hit them with some powders. Since they represent gypsum haulers, the white pastel worked great. I have about a dozen more I need to do as well. Some will be hauling cement so I need to come up with a more grayish powder to use. Have a great weekend! Dale
So I’ve been on a tangent here lately weathering cars. I have got quite a few done. I decided to give this guy some weathering. I picked this up a while back and it’s been sitting in display but I want to run it some. When I got this, the horn was missing and it needs a beacon. What horn would be appropriate? I can order one to replace the missing piece. I have a beacon I can put on the cab. This is an older Atlas Silver model and I’ve added no sound DCC. Thanks, Dale
Looking good Dale. Your weathering skills have come along very nicely. A Details West AH-191 will wok for a horn.
